Peppermint Shrimp

I recently bought a couple of peppermint shrimp, which promptly disappeared into the rockwork. Can anyone who has peppermint shrimp tell me please whether they eventually hang out in the open like cleaner shrimp, or do they mostly stay hidden?

Most peppermint shrimp I've seen are shyer than Skunk Cleaner Shrimp.

Look at night with a flashlight but there is always that chance a fish ate them....

Give it time to get used to your new environment. My peppermint ate from my hand after a couple of months. Actually all my shrimps eat from my hands now after a few months.

Actually when I stick my hand in the tank my peppermint shrimp try to eat my hand. Actually kinda stings a bit.

i bought a peppermint shrimp 2 mounths ago and i only seen it 2 times.

The shrimp will start to come out when you feed the fish. Just have some patience! The shrimps are there!

My pep hides in a capped off bulkhead ALL DAY and I MEAN ALLLLLL DAY. He comes out as soon as the wrasses go nite nite. He's very patient when i comes to food only venturing out about 1 to 2 inches from his hole.

Great thanks, everyone. Need them to get adventurous to get rid of small aptasia that hitch hiked on a rock when I bought some coral a while back.

My pep took about a week to get comfy and start chowing down on the aiptasia. Make sure you feed only enough for the fish, a hungry shrimp will get out there faster .
