This might be a retarted question but here we go. Has anyone tried to have a green sea turtle in there tank along with fish or is that just not a good idea? Just curious on weather anyone here has ever tried it.

No, no sea turtles. I (and a group of students) dissected a Kemps Ridley turtle once in a marine bio research station (I was commended on my dissecting skills by the teacher though, delicate work for viewing musculature!) (it was killed in a boating/fishing accident and then donated to the laboratory).

"Status of Marine Turtles
All 7 species of marine turtles are listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA); 6 of those species fall under the jurisdiction of the NOAA Fisheries Office of Protected Resources...."

Turtle

Ok if CITES is doing 17000 fine for importing leopard sharks what do you think they will do to you if they find out somebody imported a sea turtle. One of the Jersey wholesalers just disappeared and I got a phone call from the feds about stuff I bought 8 years ago!!!. I was good but that's how crazy the feds are about this stuff. And hold onto your hats because the news is that about 65 types of sps and Lps are about to get added to the list too.

After college I worked for a few weeks at the old Al's Aquarium on Nostrand Ave. (The owner was an Al Albano...any connection to the Albano here?)
They used to have a sea turtle on display in a tank...it was fairly small for a sea turtle...but it took up lots of space in the tank. Still, it seemed happy enough...ate the large goldfish...2 chomps and a puff of scales..probably not the most nutritious thing to give freshwater fish to a marine animal, but reptile requirements are probably way different from SW fish requirements. This was way back in the 70's, I don't think that turtle would last too long on display now.
