The 3rd wire( green) is a grounding wire which needs to be attached to the housing of your light, to provide a path to ground, instead of a path through you!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8O

I had same slime problem. I increased the water flow with 2 new powerheads and a janitor clean up crew consisting of snails and mexican hermit crabs. Crabs ate it all. Only took 2 weeks in my 125 g. Good luck!!! :)

What you have are snail eggs. I have seen my snails make these trails for months. This was my first questions on this board and no one responded. :( So I researched it myself and found out they were snail eggs. My tang loves them! :) Happy reefing

Thanks your the help guys , I think I located the answer to my question in the FAQ section. I have been mixing up 5 gal of kalk at a time, and seems to be too much at a time . I will try mixing it on a daily basis now. Might even experiment with the addition of vinegar to my kalk solution...
