  1. Weekly Discussion - BB vs DSB

I have to admit something... I've kept myself out of every single thread on this issue, mainly due to a lot of mud slinging on other forums and DSB nay-sayers coming out of the live rock ;) I think system failures make DSB's easy targets for finger pointing. Why? Poor husbandry skills (or...
  2. Inland Reef Salt Study - Where we're going

Nathan, Thanks for checking into that for me. Salt Study Team or Reefs.org - Can you provide an answer to our questions posed by Nathan and I?
  3. Inland Reef Salt Study - Where we're going

Not to sound like pest... but What's the status of the study? I contributed (like many hobbyists did) at the start of the project and I can't even remember when that was. I know you've been busy with the move and all, seriously when are we looking at firm start date? :?
  4. Stores in Norhtern New Jersey, Philly, Poconos?

You could also try "Shear of Heaven" on Rt. 145 in Allentown. Not much on dry goods or advice. However, if you're looking for a decent SPS selection, I'd give them a try.
  5. Hagen Aquaclear 802 PH with Remora Pro ?

Matt - the Pro is still shipped with the Rio pump, unless you buy the MAG3 upgrade. Anyway... both the Rio 1400 and the Aquaclear 802 both pump 400 gal/hour at 0 head. I'd say Mr. Prince is also incorrect
  6. 350 pic, work in progress

Tony, Tanks for the pic, it helped. I have some parts I'm not sure what to do with... I have a pressure switch, what looks to be a solenoid and a power cable pigtail. These need to go somewhere in the water flow setup, just not sure where. Before the pump? I didn't see those components in your...
  7. Hagen Aquaclear 802 PH with Remora Pro ?

The best pump for the Remora Pro is the MAG7. You'll need a larger collection cup. However, this combo really kicks this skimmer in the a**
  8. 350 pic, work in progress

Tony, WOW great tank! I love the details and would like to copy a few of them, if you don't mind of course! I noticed that you installed a CDP 8800 booster pump for your RO/DI. Any chance you could post a pic of the setup. I bought a used one and it didn't come with a manual.
  9. Reef Sciences (Fergy) Dual 48" Beckett Skimmer

In terms of skimmer performance or electricity savings? Aren't you causing a lot of back pressure to placed on the pump by using it in a non pressure rated scenario?
  10. Reef Sciences (Fergy) Dual 48" Beckett Skimmer

LA - While Rich's skimmer is 8" shorter than mine. I'm sure both could easily handle the same load, very easily. For me, it was an extra measure of safety. I plan on going to a 550gal at some point in the near future. I did not want to upgrade. Brain almost talked me into a quad. I was tempted...
  11. Inland Reef / Reefs.org Salt Analysis Project

Vitz - No need to roll me up into your post. It's unwarranted and unappreciated. My post had nothing to do with the lack of updates or progress on the study, it had to do with the way some hobbyists are being treated when asked for a status update. Who cares if John asked once or ten times. It...
  12. Reef Sciences (Fergy) Dual 48" Beckett Skimmer

Wade, I double posted somehow and deleted the uploads from the third post. However they impacted the second post. Could you fix that for me? I uploaded the images to the RDO server via the attachment.
  13. Reef Sciences (Fergy) Dual 48" Beckett Skimmer

I really wanted to share my latest pride and joy. I wanted to show everyone the great quality that Brian Ferguson put into this skimmer. After several discussion and constant questioning. We came up with something that should really last a long time and most importantly, is scalable and will...
