  1. Phosban and Carbon Reactors, do they work?

Which ones are you guys running? Store bought or DIY. Also do you see any issue with putting them inline versus running a seperate pump?
  2. Phosban and Carbon Reactors, do they work?

Are you keeping the carbon in the bag or tossing it loose in the reactor?
  3. Phosban and Carbon Reactors, do they work?

My recent pump death has inspired me to update my setup and I'm considering running an inline phosban and carbon reactor (2 seperate reactors). Does anyone still use these, and what are your thoughts on them? Also, if you use one, was it store bought or DIY? Thanks.
  4. LED lightings ?

I agree with you that there are pros and cons to every system out there. Some people swear by the replacement of MH bulbs every 6 months, but ask ten people you'll get 10 answers. I'm in South Florida, where it's always hot. There was never a time when my chiller wasn't running and therefore...
  5. LED lightings ?

I've been running the LED lights on my tank for about a year now and have no complaints. The power consumption of a 400W LED light versus a 400W MH is the SAME. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, 400W is 400W. The place where you save money is in the need for a chiller, the added cost of...
  6. What's the best pump for a 155 bowfront?

I'd like to know how everyone is running their tanks with no pump? This post has been viewed 60 times and the only ones who have pumps are ChrisRD and Ben. I want a pumpless tank :)
  7. What's the best pump for a 155 bowfront?

What happened to this forum? I know I haven't posted in a while but this used to be a great forum filled with opinionated bastards who loved to tell everyone what to do, and that's why we loved it  Come on guys, I really need opinions on pumps. Everyone on this forum has a tank, which...
  8. Tangs

One word of advice, chromis and damsels are very closely related. If you get a school of blue/green chromis you'll be very happy and they're relatively cheap. But, a lot of people get tempted by what some stores call Bluefin Chromis, which look nice and cute with their yellow stripe and blue fin...

    155 Gallon Bowfront
  10. Tangs

I've always kept tangs in my tank and while everyone is correct about the space needed for the larger tangs, I have never had any problems keeping mutiple types together. You have to understand that it's not the fact that they're tangs that make them aggressive, it's their shape. Tangs will...
  11. What's the best pump for a 155 bowfront?

I forgot to mention above, the pump needs to be an external.
  12. What's the best pump for a 155 bowfront?

The pump for my sump and my closed loop are two seperate Iwaki 40s and my closed loop pump just died. My thought was to take the older Iwaki 40 from my sump and place it on the closed loop and buy a new pump for the sump. The closed loop has a Oceans Motions Squirt on it which has a GPM limit...
  13. Need new pumps, any suggestions?

I have replumbed and relocated my 155 bowfront reef and now realize how loud my pumps are. The previous setup was on an external wall and the pumps were outside, but now with everything moving inside noise has become an issue. The two pumps I need to replace are a Iwaki WMD-40RLT and...
  14. Closed Loop using an OM Squirt and an Iwaki WMD40RLT

I would love to be able to setup the OM like that, but I don't have that much room behind the tank. The tank sits just inside the front door to my house, and the wife may be a little upset with it sitting a foot away from the wall with PVC every where. I'm going to measure how much space I have...
  15. Closed Loop using an OM Squirt and an Iwaki WMD40RLT

Thanks for the input. I thought about mounting the Squirt above the tank so the distance from the Squirt to the returns is minimized, but I don't think I have room under my hood for it. I'm using a Solaris LED fixture and it takes up a lot of space. Len - I'll check out the Super Squirt, thanks.
