Well I think you could put the oolitic in and be just fine. I added some sand to my established tank awhile ago and it went just fine. I took a measuring cup and slowly dropped it in. It was a mess for awhile but it cleared up with no problems. I have vacumed the sand bed on occassion but...
Ok about 15 months ago I set up my 92 gallon corner bow front. Stocked it a few months later, put in one baby clam(not sure on sp.) The little guy did well for about 3 months on the sand bed then one morning all that's left is two halves of the shell. Everything else is fine in the tank...
Well I've used 'em for a couple of years with no problems. I had them going as circulation pumps only, never cleaned them and they always worked. Only problem I had was the suction cups not sticking so I switched to hagen's so that they could hang on the rim of the tank...works great. I...
Oops sorry...it's a 92 gallon bowfron corner unit...about 40" high with a 400watt MH 20k on top. The cuc is a tiger tail and he's moving around now with no more white stuff coming out so who knows maybe he's ok.
Just got a shipment of various sps and other corals from ffexpress and I have to say they all look great. The only problem was that the water in the bottom of the box was about 65F. Also one of the Cuc's had some whit sticky stuff coming out of it's behind...is that bad because I know they can...
I had a tiger tail die in my tank once. It wiped out a nice crop of Xenia but that was it. I think I got to it quick enough to save everything else...did a nice big water change and things were fine after that. I'd do a couple of water changes if I were you before adding fish again. I'm not...
I don't think anyone on this board really likes anything by Mark Weiss. I used to use it all the time but I've kinda got lazy lately and to tell you the truth I don't see a difference with it or without now.
Well thanks for the replys everyone. I was thinking of raising my temperature up to what everyone has been recommending (80-82F). Anyways, my tank has been running at the current temp(77-78F) for over a year now and I was wondering if it would be safe to slowly raise the temp or just leave...
Well I have that AGA corner overflow which I really like. It's such a simple system to run and maintain. The return comes up over the overflow and flows back in to the main tank. It's really nice because it really agitates the top of the water and causes a lot of flow into the tank. They do...
I have to admit I didn't read all the post because I have seen this thread so often. Anyways when I moved my tank I used a spatula(sp) to scoop the sand out and keep the layers intact. I have seen that some people have used dustpans as well, which would probably work better. The main thing to...
I set up a 7 gallon reef tank about 3 months ago. I put in a bunch of mushrooms that were growing out of control in my main tank. Also some button polyps and a couple of leather frags. There is one maroon clown in there and a coral banded shrimp. Anyway I took an old AquaClear external...
Hey thanks for the replys! Yeah I thought bringing the temp down as slowly as possible would be the best. My tank normally runs at 77-79F all the time. But the fans weren't on that day so it went way up. Things are settling back down now though.
I have had one since it was a wee nip at the LFS. Over a year and a half later he's about 3" across and doing really well. I have never seen him mess with any of my corals or fish. He seems to be doing well on his own in there but if I see him mess with anything I might get rid of him.
It's too bad they don't have Rent-a-Tangs. I had some of the same stuff in my tank but my Tang really took care of it fast. Too bad you couldn't just borrow someone's tang for a week or two.
