I would wait about a week, circulate a bathtub full of vinegar and water through it for about 12 hours, let it dry and then circulate RO water through it. But thats me. just waiting two days should do the trick practically.

My orchid dotty used to do the same thing, would leave the tank bottom showing in many places. perfectly normal. Gotta occupy yourself somehow.

I like conchs man. I am fairly sure they make a good dent in diatoms, the only downside that I know of is the larger ones tend to inadvertently rearrange the rockwork. Speaking of which, why not just chuck it all and go for a couple queen conchs in a tank that size?
