According to my directTV menu it is showing all the blue planets (4 old, 4 new) starting at 3:00pm
  2. your opinion on the best clown's??

I just got a pair of black ocellaris clowns that are fantastic. They are tank raised too so the are even better.
  3. Attn all AquaSpacelight users!

Here are some pics of my completed stand/cap: Here is a full front view: Here is the cap open. What I did was use a solid piece of pine (could use plywood) and cut out 2 doors that slide up to remove. I put a small bead trim around the cut in the wood to hold the door in place and hide the...
  4. Attn all AquaSpacelight users!

The aquaspacelight gets hot, it does raise the temp of my tank. From what I hear though it is nowhere near as bad as 400 watters. I mostly solved the problem by making a hood that is open on the top and putting fans in the back. I have the fans on when the HQI's are on. I'm thinking of a...
  5. Good/hardy beginner acro and sps's???

I read recently in Eric Borneman's book that pavona is an excellent beginners SPS
  6. Anybody have experience with Lettuce Nudibranchs?

I believe they are also photosynthetic so I would think they would have to be out during the "day" if they wanted to survive.
  7. oppinions and experiences with the following site:

reefworm: why yes it is Unfortunatly I live in New England and the stargazing is terrible. Too many cloudy nights, too cold in the winter, too humid in the summer... too much light pollution
  8. Great expectations

I would personally go with more rock and ditch the wet dry all together. Make sure you have a powerful beckett style skimmer since big fish produce lots of waste. I would do a 50/50 and actinic. The URI's looks great in this combo. Just watch your nitrates and phosphates. If you can keep...
  9. Can I keep clams?

I have noticed that with a lot of bulbs there are a number of factors that can determine what the color looks like: -Variations in bulbs -Different Ballasts -Any yellowing in the water or algea on the rocks can dramatically effect this -Different supplemental lighting may or may not go well and...
  10. Who Makes the Quietist External Pump

Pretty much re-iterate what's been said. AmpMaster only makes a quite hum and that is about it. QuitOne pump is hard to tell if it's running it's so quite. Iwaki's are quite, but not as much as the ones above. Also, remember that anything is probably going to sound loud at first... water...
  11. Can I keep clams?

SeaSydney: Look into a fixture called "AquaSpaceLight" You can get a 2 bulb unit from custom aquatics for $799.99 with free shipping. If you factor in the cost of ballast, bulbs, reflectors, sockets, shipping etc. for your proposed setup it will probably be around the same (this is what I...
  12. oppinions and experiences with the following site:

I have nothing but praise for Premium Aquatics... fast delivery, excellent customer service, prompt return of emails, great prices. Probably ordered a dozen times from them.
  13. dying clams... HELP!

It might help people if you posted the current water stats of your tank: pH, Temp, Salinity, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, Calcium, Alkalinity
  14. Reef Fishes vol. 2

I can't wait for this book too. The funny thing is you can find most of Scott Michaels fish information in back issues of Aquarium FISH. He has covered almost every fish group repeatedly in that magazine
  15. Can I keep clams?

Have you already purchased it. I would suggest a more powerful setup if you want to keep all types of clams. The setup you proposed would probably be ok for a derasa or maybe some others if you put them near the top, but more would be preferable.
