Some pics of some corals being nursed back to health...When I got most of these they were white....Some are newer than others, that still have white on them...Oh, and does anyone know what the yellow big one is??
Wow I'm really bright I deleted the before pics by accident..But they still have a long way to go... No not for sale just a start to my new reef from frags...
Here's another one that I'll bring back... This one has a lot of damage and lost the whole bottom...it's about 4 in. tall 2 in. wide...It also appears to be peeling near the bottom..
Bob that is stn-ing from the base up. the best thing to do is frag it above the tissue loss and hope for the best. if you don't the tissue will continue to die and fall off the skeleton.
where did you get all the sick coral from ?
The original owners are here....But they might not want to identified...MR confidentiality papers were signed upon receipt of these corals..lol...But I chose to pick up some sick corals to better my rep on MR..lol...Then when they are better I can really talk shhhh about superior water quality, just kidding... Natureef denitrifier baby...lol..But seriously I have come up with a way to reproduce this reactor, for far less than $700... I really don't want to have to frag this piece...Is that the only way to keep it from peeling???? None of them came from vendors either..
if your hoping the tissue will regrow over the skeleton i don't think that will happen. if the tissue has stopped receding by now then you might not have to frag it.
most of the time when tissue recession starts it's hard to stop. fragging it above the dead area is often the best way to save it. people have also used super glue to cover the dead tissue area to try to stop it that way.
getting rid of No3 is easy compared to keeping the Po4 down to acceptable levels for great SPS growth.
don't forget to test for that as well
I always test for Po4, That big mesh bag filled with coralife phosphate remover kept it almost invisible to the salifert test kit...But now that I have a very low bio load. Just added a 1.5 inch blue line grouper to feed my denitrifier...Denitrifier also has a phosphate option that I have and that's keeping the Po4 gone for the past month...
for testing Po4 Saliferts ok but it's tough to get an accurate reading.
I think getting any reading with a salifert kit is going to be too much Po4 for SPS to be really happy. for superior SPS water quality you have to kick Po4's a$$ find someone with a hanna Po4 meter near you, a lot of the guys on the board have one now. match that reading to the salifert kit to see where your really at.
