i do not like the prices of some of our sponsors. i try to support them, but i'm not going to throw my money away either.

exactly my line of thinking.

The RODI should clear the water up in short order. Do you recommend using any other filtration, chemical/mechanical or other besides the protein skimmer and live rock I currently have? I know many people are using activated carbon as well...is that something I should be considering?

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but due to type of overflow and the height of the baffles, theres really no way to use a filter sock as a catch all, or even catch 'most' , lol.

I do currently have a filter sponge to try and catch some of the larger debri that may enter the sump, but thats not very efficient.

I'll just make sure my next tank gets drilled for overflows, and I'll utilize a much more elaborate sump/refugium system.
