I would say the percentage of people with mined or man made rock is greater now than ever. And more tank bred species are available than ever.
My point is that while the hobby is not "green" it is evolving and a hobbyist is more likely to get involved with the fight to save the reefs than the average person. That positive in itself outweighs the negative impact of responsible collecting for the hobby.
