Hey Dude,

Looks good so far. That's got to be a hell of a loud set up with the Skimmer return draining in like that. I also don't know how well the coverage on that EcoRay is going to be unless you intend on keeping most of your corals near the center.

good start, i would save the filter sock till the tank has cycled. and like every one else said that light may need changing to something with more coverage.

Looks nice. I suggest getting rid of the swing arm hydrometer and getting a refractometer.

Keep up the good work.

Beautiful tank right down to the matching dust cover with ruffles at the bottom of the stand!

+1 on the Refractormeter

If your ever in Ozone Park pass on by the office, i can give you some starter frags after you cycle your tank.

how many drains are in the overflow box? if you are using a pump that is pushing 1500 gph you might need to throttle it back to reduce the noise, since most dursos realistically drain about 400 or so gph (they claim 600 but my experience has been otherwise).

you can try messing with the durso though. either enlarge the air hole, or try shoving a straw or some airline tubing down the hole to help aspirate the drain.

1 drain bro, is the airline tube highly effective or only slightly?

itll do somthing, a durso can handle up to 700gph (if its a 1") max i personally run 2 mag 9s, so it reality im probably putting out 1400gph to the display....no slurping for me lol. it u use a full sipon then it can do more..never messed with that tho...

Hey I have the same exact make and model it's a great tank! I will be putting it up for sale soon though since I recently purchased a 265 marineland. But the overflow noise you have I have too I believe it's from the pipe not being tall enough so once all the water falls over the overflow it's dropping a decent distance to create that noise if you get what I'm trying to say. You can either male a cover for the overflow or try raising the pipe so there is less drop into the overflow btw I havent had any problems with my tank since owning it FYI! Congrats
