Question:

I found a buyer (or two) from RC that want my light and will pay the $500 + shipping costs. My only concern is that i would rather not have to hassle/risk shipping it and also that i would prefer to give to to a Manhattan Reefer.

Think i should just sell it to those interested buyers? or hold on to it to give the deal to a MRer one day?

Kai, yoU should get these... i made a miStake not getting them and ended up paying more for leSs :irked: i think theSe are a great buy!

Thanks, Don and Johnathan. So tempting.

Will this be overkill for my tank? Also, how much will this heat up my tank, especially during the summer?

FWIW, i had two of these over my 187 and did not have a chiller. just a small fan (from staples) over the lights did the trick (you can see it in one of the pictures)

i switched because i wanted 400 watters to penetrate deeper into my tank.

with that fixture, there is probably no coral that you would be restricted from due to light limitations. Also being on two plugs allows you to have a dawn/dusk effect by having the 150W actinic come on first and go off last.

what i liked most about it was that it was just plug and play - all the ballasts and everything is built into this tiny fixture 3" thick (which is why i bought it) it is much easier and neater than my current fixture which has external ballasts and wires all over the place and is MUCH thicker.

Note: i am not just biased to sell it because i have other buyers, i just prefer to give it to someone from here that i know rather than someone all the way on the other side of the country (actually in Canada).

Thanks, Albert. I noticed that the lights were sitting over the canopy. How did you position it. And what is the measurements of the light? Also, do you know how long the bulbs last for and how costly it will be to replace them.

Thanks again.

i had them on wood beams because my tank was 60" long.

The fixture is 48" long, so you can just rest it on the canopy if you like, or go with the wood beams.

you can see this on the pics at the begining of this thread.

Hey Albert,

I thought about getting the lights long and hard. In the end, I concluded, it is more money than I can afford to spend on this hobby at this time. That's too bad, because I do realize it is a great deal.

Thanks for your patience and for holding it for me.

Kai
