I've got 2 250w MHs and 2 55w actinic T5s. Is that enough light??

yes. but you also need the room for these guys to grow. they live a long time and grow pretty big. so if you have a small tank your going to have to plan on getting a bigger one, or selling the clams.

Im thinkin I want one too but I need the process of selection explained thoroughly, is it gonna be a crazy mad dash, or pick a number out of a hat and take a pick.Either way I feel like ill go psycho :banghead:

i thought it would be fun to do this... i leave it up to you guys to figure out the selection process. any thoughts?

I have a 72 bow and very few corals in it. So there's definitely room (I do have serious problems with coral placement - I'm just never sure how close they can be to one another and all that other stuff). Anyway, there's definitely room on the bottom, and perhaps even further up. And if it does grow too big (which would be a nice feat!) I can always sell it or trade it for a smaller one...

Now, how do hermit crabs not fall into it?

that's up to the hermit crab :D

just don't put the clam under a rock, which you would NOT do any way.
because the clam needs the most light out of anything in your tank.
clams get the best spots in the tank. they need good flow over them, but not anything direct like a power head.

jim i was thinking a number next to the clam, and by random ppl pick a number out of a bag and match the clam.

numbers in hat
draw straws
people who want to pick pay more,
first pick costs the most last costs the least ;)
have a "fear factor" eating contest. person who eats the
most peanut worms (kris) and bristle worms gets first pick.

think about how much water you will need to make and carry over, let alone the weight of that tank. you also need to bring something to put the tank on. we can't have tanks sitting on the nice wood dance floor.
