  1. "Aragocrete" Live Rock manufacturing

I've heard mixed reviews of using Quikrete Concrete Mix as opposed to portland cement. I had some concrete mix in my basement and made some plugs from it, but have not had the fortitude to try them. Will the concrete mix do any harm by leaching stuff out? mgk
  2. question about new deep sand bed...

My understanding is that www.purearagonite.com sand is Southdown sand that has been "washed" in some way. I'm sure this washing process removes some of the very fine particles. After reading about this for a couple of years now, I find that there is not any vendor that offers the sand particle...

I had the chance to see Timbo's mixer a few weeks ago. He used the UHMW plastic over the acrylic bottom plate. I don't see any reason why you could not put a bit of silicon or super glue on the plate to hold it down. mgk

  9. Refugium Lighting - 24/7 is Bad-Says Kent Marine University

As I stated above, Dr. Reef, caulerpa is NOT a higher order plant, it does not have a vascular system such as terrestrial plants do. It should really be thought of as a large celled algae. I did have a tank crash in my 29g that had a 12 hr lighting period. It suffocated all my fish. :(
  10. Refugium Lighting - 24/7 is Bad-Says Kent Marine University

I am, and continue to be, in the 24/7 camp. My refuge hasn't gone sexual in over a year. I prune haphazardly. Usually when the refuge is full. One thing we need to remember is that caulerpa is NOT a plant. It is a multicellular, large celled algae. It derives its nutrition from...
