Ok ok, moving on. I don't want this closed.

I did put the sps on the very top of my tank. Almost an inch to the top of the tank water level. Is it possible I have alot of light and the sps is too close and getting too much light?

Ryan, check for Red Bugs

im pretty sure i dont have bugs, but, say i did, is the best way to get rid of most is to take most my corals out and redip them in my coral rx and put them back in? if so im going to need to pick up some more coral rx cause thats alot lol. have to remember, all other corals look amazing. just those frags of sps, and when i had them, i looked at them and monitored them everyday.

i did change light photo period. now its
reef brites 12:00pm-8:30pm
actinics 12:30-7:30pm
day bulbs 1:00-7:00pm
Moon Lights 8:30pm-12:00pm

red bugs are easy to treat, matter of fact I know of some reefers who treat their tanks about every 6 months for red bugs just so they don't ever get a foot hold in their systems. They definitely cause browning and lack of polyp extension and they only affect acros, not lps and you'd be amazed of how ugly they can make infected acros look, it's like a dog that has fleas, he'll be miserable and unhappy but it won't kill him, same with red bugs and sps

I have a mixed reef 58 gallon with ati 6 bulb and I have a couple sps that are not happy most of te time and I attribute it to leathers. The carbon should pull it out but that does not mean that it doesn't irritate them in the mean time. I accept this as a fact of having a mixed tank. I could be wrong but I do not have any other reason to believe other than this in my tank.

Well tomorrow, thanks to pauliwalnuts, I'll have a few nice and healthy new sps frags from his tank. I'll be sure to continue posting on here how they do and throw some pictures up. Thanks again man.

i am one of those guys, and truelly doubt you light is brighter them my 8 bulb powermodule, i run my first 2 bulbs to come on at 4 p0m and go off at 11 pm my daylight 6 bulb comes on at 5 and goes off at 10. also when changing carbon make sure it is truelly rinsed with no particals and same for phosban. these dust particles can cause problems ;) coral rx doesnt do anything for redbugs, and nothing so far has been found to kill egg's off of flatworms or the redbugs, you might have a stray fish that you wouldnt suspect thats causing problems, and even running carbon doesnt mean the chemical warfare isnt still happening between corals, could have a skin from a leather released at night and smother or sting a sps then blow off, are you still using the bio-pellets ?

As in what the leathers and all? Shouldn't my nextreef mr1 reactor filled with esv carbon be pulling out anything they could release?

Were you running GAC the whole time or did you just start? I ask because using too much will make your water very clear intesifying the lights, which has in the past caused my SPS to pale. Also, I think you may be using too much GAC for your system if you are filling your reactor.

When I rinse carbon and my GFO, I run it in a 5 gallon bucket. I leave the hose running, filling the bucket, and have the pump in the bucket, and the return line in the sink. I let it run for 10 minutes. Then I stop it, smash and shake it around, run again for 5 minutes, shake it again while running, then plug and unplug it a few times. Once after a shake test it's clear water out return pipe, then It goes on tank. And just to be safe, I think my leather will go. Either it's going it or not, I'll find a home for it just to be safe. It's getting too big anyway. And no, not running bio pellets. Found zero results it, and shut it down awhile ago. I used it for awhile and never had any outcome.

I have always ran carbon. I use it in a MR1 shorty. The container is almost full. I use the correct amount off the side of the container. The correct amount almost fills it, but the shorty is a small reactor.

So, I took a trip over to pauliwalnuts place to help me out with my situation, and to start over with sps and learn a few things. Let me tell you, great guy. Amazing tank. I could only wish mine would ever look as happy and healthy as his. gorgeous. He did some tests and I think we found the problem. First was nitrate issue. I don't understand this, and not sure if it is this problem, but at his place we tested it and it was reading 50+ppm. I don't know if I messed this test up because on the way over with my water, a jerk off cut me off. I slammed my breaks, and my container opened and spilt most my water. We tested it with water from a piece of coral I brought him. Don't know if that would mess the test up. I test my nitrate all the time and the highest I ever say it, it was 10-15. His said 50+. I just tested mine again 15 minutes ago and it does say it's high, but only 15-20. Paul man, I don't know that the heck is going on?! Lol. But maybe that water we tested did mess it up or I don't know, but I just retested it and it's no where near as pink as we saw haha. So, I don't know what's up with that. BUT, phosphate is indeed high. I believe it was .12, right Pauli? So, that's high. My sera test was only telling me .05 and I also just bought that new red sea test kit for phosphate and that one as well said .07, but he used his real phosphate test kit and it showed the truth. So, to fix this, I'm hoping putting my fuge back into my system will fix this. Hopefully.
Any other suggestions to lower phosphate?

being very generous, Pauli gave me a bunch of new easy frags to give it a shot. Again, thanks ALOT man. I just glued all of them to rubble rock, dipped them, and now in the tank. I just took a few photos a minute or 2 after I put them in. Uploading now...
