all of my sps are dead!

Hey guys I just came back from california for a vacation and when I came back all my sps and some zoas are dead! My brother was looking after the tank while I was gone, he informed me on saturday that my tank was cloudy and the temp was 65 degrees :irked: oh man i am so annoyed! And to top that almost all my zoas collection melted away all my inverts are dead, and my scolly's and beautiful brain coral that i've had for 2 years died! I just did a 50% water change replaced my carbon and phosban and checked all my water parameters and its ok now!
Arghhhh I can't believe this always happen when you're gone on vacation! I wish theres a method that we can use to secure the safety of all of our pets!

I'm sorry for your loss. Ive got some pulsing xenia if you ever make it to Bk or make it to the swap, i know its a coral that is easy to grow but its all i have at the moment. As for your tank, you can rebuild your collection. did you have a controller failure or heater failure?

I am sorry to hear that. I am going on vacation in the February 2010 for 3 weeks and I am not sure how I am going to prepare to avoid these catastrophic events.

dual heater will be on my system once i get my controller. I have a spare heater I use for water changes and will hook it up to the controller when i get that on sunday.

a good lesson can be learned here, sadly at your expense. it is not worth the risk to not have one if you keep live animals, not to mention pricetags. 1 quasi-positive to this.. you have room for new frags from the swap.

I have the fluval E Series titanium heater 300 watts, I paid way too much for damn heater and they said it was one of the best!

sorry to hear....I use three heaters in my system..one in the tank, one in the fuge and other in the sump.
