Ok, So i've been procrastinating in taking pictures which was slowing me down from making this thread. So, i thought that making a post would get me going on the pictures which should be taken tommorrow.
Finally finished my new tank and did the switch over from the 40 gallon breeder i had set up temporarily on weds of last week (may 23rd). Tank is currently 12 days old and has been doing better than i could have asked for after a 50% water change and stressing everything out during a 6+ hour setup and move.
Tank is ~65 gallons with inside measurements 30x20 25" high. Front and sides are 3/8" starfire ( because starfire rocks! :thrash: ). Used solid oak for the base and top for support and sealed the wood right this time to prevent the permanent salt creep i got in the grain last time. External overflow measuring 8x8x12 (still too small for the durso to work right :smash
and placed a black plexi panel in the back to cover the overflow and in hopes of huge corraline growth quick like it does on my black pump.
Beeing able to create everything using only these ....
....and not using only ....
.... Is what makes this hobby all the more enjoyable for me. ( :scratchch Come to think of it the hands work in conjunction with the wallet don't they
)
Sneek Peek! This is the tank while i was waiting for the silicone to cure.
The day after picture of the tank with everything in the same place as it was blindly placed in a cloudy tank. I'll get recent pictures tommorrow of the rockwork redone and most of the coral placed where they are happy.
I Also changed the sand to ESV sand (haven't seen a calcium problem yet /crosses fingers)
Total water volume including the sump and overflow box is ~80 gallons.
Filtration:
15 gallon sump
Euroreef RS-80 Skimmer
2x phos reactors running inline carbon/phosban.
Panworld 50px pump w/ PVC flex for return 3/4 supply - 1" drain. Modded the Pump with a new fan to quiet down the noise.
6025 tunze nanostream for flow.
I'm using a 250w DE MH lumenarc reflector with a icecap ballast and have 2x T5 retro's coming in sometime this week to add some supplimentation. Going to also start building a hood for this weekend to prevent excapage of the wrasses and to have a place to put the T5 retro's. Tanks been covered with a clean windowscreen for the past week while everythings been acclimating to the new lights and to prevent a few new fish from escaping without paying their rent.
All parameters are perfect.
Po4 is readable but its mainly from slight die off on the rocks along with me not knowing how to use a real skimmer. Had 3 good 2 day skims go back into the tank from not learning to shut off the skimmer whenever i float a bag to temp acclimate or add certain things to the system. :smash: Also noticed it go up once i started using mysis without rinsing last week. Doing a water change this weekend once my salt comes in so the next few weeks will be "Operation Po4 Elimination!"
Think thats it. I'll get pics up of everything tommorrow.
