hey Q how's HK?

the scaping won't be that complicated. I don't need a lot of rock in there because it's tied to the display, and I want to leave room for the CBB to swim without hitting too many rocks. he has become used to the rock formation in the cube so I don't want to freak him out too much.
I also want to leave room for frags to place on the rocks and sand bed.

It will probably end up being a low rock formation along the back.

I spent late this afternoon hooking up the small tank to the display.
It was pretty straight going with the PVC parts, I was nervous when I started it up. I did not use any unions so the only way to move the tank if it leaked would be to cut the flex pvc. It did not leak! :D

I took some pics and will post them later.

The CBB is in a bucket with the rocks. He needs to be acclimated, I was keeping his SG low, like 1.023. I have to bump him back up to the displays 1.026.

filling the tank

the drain line. I had to mod a maxijet part to make a holder for the spaflex.
I heated it over the stove and bent it around the tubing.

big tank little tank

it's cloudy, when filling the tank I ran a line into the sump and pumped in new salt water this disturbed all the crap at the bottom of the sump that I should have siphoned out first. since the tank was cloudy already I threw in some ultra life (fauna marin) to help clear it.

FTS

I added a fan, rocks, and a whole bunch of frags since this pic was taken.
Oh and the CBB :goldfish2He has a little blenny as a tank mate and a snail that
hitch hiked on a rock.

I need to get a few more fittings for the inside of the tank. I forgot to order them, I want some elbows so I can turn the drain strainers up more, and raise the water level.

I'm also not sure the light fixture will be enough for the tank. The way it's set up does not give a very good spread. If I hang it so it's higher I think it will become to weak. maybe a hanging pendant with a DE 250 ? :arg: upgrading already :banghead:

Looks good Jon, looking forward to the pics w/the rocks & frags.

Doesn't a MH have a spread of 24"?
And the tanks looks to be 12" deep so a 250 would be a lot of light for that, maybe 2 x 175's? Or T5's instead?

the tanks 12" deep and 36"long. the luminarc reflectors will give a spread of 36" and at that height the 250mh would be fine. I've seen people put 400 watt 20k's over similar tanks

if I did t5's maybe supplementing 2 on each side of the current light in some home made boxes. that might look funny but it would not cost much. I have a icecap 430 I can use.

I'm going to experiment with the height of the current fixture first. If raising the current works that would be the simplest fix.
