looking good. I like the paint job!

Are you adding an overflow box to the main display? I don't think just sticking a hose in there would work. It will syphon down until it goes below the level of the pipe (or the break hole) then stop all together.

B I had not thought of that. I did not plan on an overflow box.
I guess I will know soon enough. I thought the water level would stay the same in the display and the drain line going to the frag tank would not be able to loose it's siphon.

The CBB is named Homer??
We might just need to dig out that thread about who names their fish...lol

Forgot to add...love the paint!
If you have 2 bulkheads draining the 30g isn't the flow in there going to be too strong for the CBB?

thanks Matt  :(
Kathy that's a code word :shhh:
Emily=:confused:

why would 2 drains be too strong? Now you guys are confusing me with the plumbing.

There's nothing new to take pics of chief as soon as there is I will post them!

The painting is pretty easy guys, I showed you all the steps, you can do it!

Sean thanks, link for the plastic paint, http://www.krylon.com/main/product_...lid=10&productid=1751&content=product_details

J,

If you use a street 90 or a 3" section of PVC into a regular 90, the flow and height can be adjusted by turning the 90. If you over rate the drains, they will "flush" and you'll want to kill Homer (whoever that is)

Next time you're in town, come see the new system I put up last week and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks Jim, I think the drains will be underrated.
But I will still use the elbows to turn the drains up.

the majority of flow will be coming from the powerheads.

I love that Krylon paint. I used the spray paint version of it to paint some pvc that I had in a closed loop manifold and it worked great. No real sanding or even primer and the finish was perfect and lasted despite
rubbing and tank exposure.
Good luck with the tank, it's looking good!!

small progress

I got the street elbows with the right threading I needed.
the tank is ready to plumb. I have to drill some holes in the back of the
stand to allow the drain lines to get to the sump. I'm forced to use 1/2" flex pvc because that's all the space I have behind the tank.

I'm posting the shots of the CBB's current home so fred can see the CAD tank. I think they are well made. sorry I have not cleaned the glass since the tank was set up.

this is the location the frag tank will occupy.
it will be centered under the two prints, which will have to move. I don't think they will survive the salt spray.

frag locatin.jpg

you can see how much lower the cbb/frag tank is, that's what gave me the idea to have a drain line from the main tank supplying the water. it might end up looking funny though, I won't be able to hide the line that much.

this is what the paint ended up looking like, it worked out pretty well.
Wing :Blurp: you will change your mind when you see it in person.

I also am using CaribSea's aragonite sugar sized oolite sand, the tank may also triple as a remote DSB :biglaugh: ok maybe just a couple of inches of sand. I'll see how it looks.
