so as it says in the title, i have a red sea sailfin tang in my 220g reef tank and is impossible to get out. He has tiny white spots of ich all over the sides of his body which has been there for about a month now and doesnt seem to be effecting him in anyway. He is not rubbing against the live rock, swimming in front of the powerheads for scratching, and is still eating like a pig.

Is there any way to get rid of this ich due to not being able to catch him?

There are no other fish in the tank, never had any other then him in this tank

Thanks

Are you sure its not sand or air bubbles? Some fish are healthy and strong enough to fight the ich off and not let it bother them. I suggest just leaving him and keep feeding food soaked in garlic. Also dosing the tank with garlic works as well. If your worried about new fish additions getting ich, just buy healthy fish who are eating and feed them garlic soaked food as well, its a chance you take. I prefer not to stress out what may be an already stressed out fish.

this stuff really worked for me. I have a full blown reef. I shut down the skimmer and followed directions. ich is gone... so far so good. I didn't think it would completely get rid of it. I just wanted to suppress it but its gone.

I don't recommend hypo... copper stresses fish also. I've killed fish with both methods. I'm telling u the last methon I tried saved all fish in my tank and all inverts and corals were unaffected. Have to follow directions though.

There a Alot of research on hypo and it is the best method look up and read for yourself
Coral Cruz maybe you didn't do right it works when done properly

I never said it doesn't work. it works on fish that are healthy enough to take the stress of hypo. if the fish has a bad bout of ich the hypo will stress it out and the fish will die. I've been in the hobby 16 years and tried/read just about every method out there. I was actually shocked that I was able to treat with a natural product so effectively. I cant say enough about it. You should read up on it ;)

I have 14tangs in a 400 display.. Hypo every fish u get.. Then prazi pro.. Do not trust any fish store or hobbiest.. Just do it.. Never had one ich outbreak since using this method.. I have an achillies. Two hippos n so on.. I've bought fish from people who medicated the fish and they still had parasites.. Not everyone knows how to inspect fish and so on.. I habe two wrasses n a copperband butterfly eating in my qt now.. They will get same treatment.. And hypo is great., don't listen to people that say it's stressful for fish.. I had my achillies in there 6 months.. He's fkn huge now

LOL, whats next? someone gonna say that hypo takes out black ich... ha, NOPE it does not... this is really funny. do your research people.

copper is definitely more stressful than hypo on a fish. However, hypo is ABSOLUTELY stressful on a sick fish or any fish for that matter. take a fish and start hypo and observe its behavior. better yet go to the base of Everest and then take a straight shot helicopter ride to the top and see how long you can breath. Now do this with a common cold. Common people use a brain.

I'd rather do something more natural but that's just me. To each his own. good luck!

there is just one question... How do fish get rid of ich in nature? do they even get ich there? do they treat themselves with Hypo? Copper? next time someone tells you that hyposalitity is natural. you know they are talking out of their ***.
