Jonathan, did you ever get a chance to compare the hanna meter to the ROWA Merck kit?

I just looked into the price of the ROWA kit and for that price I might as well buy the meter if it's fairly accurate.

sorry, I've not compared them yet :happysad:

if you can afford the meter I say get it. after buying a couple of test kit refills the meter is more cost effective.

Here's the email i just got:

Thank you for your interest in LaMotte analytical products. You’ve seen the photometric accuracy (regarding the detectors/wavelength), which is +/- 0.001 absorbance unit. The actual phosphate test accuracy is considered +/- 2%. There resolution is 0.01ppm and the minimum detection limit (MDL) is 0.07ppm.

So is that +/- .01?

The MDL of 0.07 could be a problem.

Anybody know the MDL of the other meters?

I think the accuracy is the +/- 2.

I have no clue now, lol.

So you're saying that the hanna can test lower levels than the lamotte?

If the minimum on the lamotte is .07, how you supposed to test zero?

Just curious.

It's the best one. In order is lamotte, hach, hanna.
Where did you come up with this?
After speaking with reps from all 3, no one would say they can give a better +/- than 0.04. One wouldn't give a better number than 0.07
In comparison to the kit normally used (Salifert), a Hanna is much, much better. 0.03 on the Salifert chart is 0.20+ on a Hanna, and once the number of tests is factored in, a Hanna works out cheaper in the long run. The others... not so much. It will take much longer to justify the costs with the same margin of error or worse.
Like I said... a month ago, Salifert was just fine. Now we have something significantly better at a great cost, yet we are still sharpshooting.
I'm convinced, at the price, Hanna works for me. I'm confident in my reading of 0.02. Are you?:

Chris, the email i got from lamotte let me know that the accuracy is 2. Where as the hanna is 4. That's all.

You are very right, we are nitpicking. My problem is i like buying the best upfront. That is my problem though. I am by no means underestimating the other meters. Heck i don't have any of them, LOL.

Pedro... I jumped the gun too. I didn't finish reading:banghead:
I was wondering why the person I spoke to about LaMotte was being a little evasive and wouldn't give a good +/-. He never said anything about it not being able to read below 0.07
The truth comes out.

Yeah, that's a big problem right there. So as far as i'm concerned it's either the Hanna or Hach for those who want the meter. That .07 just saved me a few bucks. That's why it's good to research, i would be pissed if i find something like that out after i buy something.

Btw, the hach has a minimum reading of .02, now to find out about the hanna.

hanna says on the front of it, that it will read between 0.00 and 2.50, so i would assume the mininum reading is 0.00.

My P04 tests at .03 :spin:

I'm so confused, why would they not make the meters so they can test for 0.00 it does not make sense. now I'm glad I got the hanna.

:biglaugh: I'm not showing off... Just backing up my point that you should never believe anyone who talks of "results" or preaches certain gear and never backs it up with a pic.
Okay... I am a little proud of my tank at the moment.
Along with knowledge, I believe our tanks are one of 2 things:
1)The result of manual labor
2)The result of good gear.
I am a gear whore.
