I have a (well-worn) copy, and if anybody lives near me (Riverdale/Yonkers border) and would like to share my copy, you're welcome to pm me! We can do the study-group thing...
picking a book is harder than I thought it would be.
reef books are not like novels :duh: it's hard to find common
ground to start with. I read the Fenner book a while ago, I was
hoping for a different book. Perhaps we have two books as
someone else suggested? We can also look at books that are not
strict how to, or reference books. I don't have any suggestions right now
I just wanted to throw the idea out there. The books can be on things or
people that are related to reefs. If the majority of book nerds want to get started asap and fenner is the book that's okay, we can use the time while discussing to come up with some great choices for the next book
Price is not an issue for me. As long as not ALL of the books are big money.
I think we should look at what books we are interested in.- see which we are doing now and in the future- that way if someone (such as jhale) has read one, he can look forward to the next one.
Hi I am new here. I saw that this was about books and I just read a great book. Its called Water Chemistry for the Marine Aquarium by John H. Tullock. And is published by Barrons. I picked it up on Amazon for real cheap. Check it out if you havent allready!
The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by R. Fenner is what I will be ordering -
I think the bullet needs to be bit! If there is anyone out there who is on board for this book or order please PM me.
Any reef book is a good book -- Those that want to start here with this book - let's do it. Others that start on another book go ahead and do so, maybe from there we can swap books. That way we are all reading the same book within 2 months time.
Like I said I'm gonna order the book I mentioned above, anyone intrested in going with this please pm me and let me know.
OK, sounds like a bunch of people are in for the Fenner book, The Concientous Marine Aquarist so let's start there.
It takes at most 2 weeks to get a book from Amazon so let's start with chapter one on March 19th. I'll start the first thread on that day, and I will designate a person to start the next weeks thread. If we proceed like this, we will all take turns starting the thread. In the meantime, if you already have the book, you can read the introduction
I have asked LeslieS to take on the responsiblity of organizing the book club. She'll be in charge for as long as she wants the job. Leslie will be opening the threads each week for the new chapters and doing whatever else the book club needs.
thanks DS
