What Jon, the cool kids can't leave the village? Is that how it is?! :)

you want me to go above 14th street???

I know you want to go back to the pinch

It would be cool if we tried to meet at a bar to discuss a book
once in a while, that's old school greenwich village :)
of course they were debating "howl" back in the day...

Not only is this a great book to start with, but I am fairly confident that if the turnout was good (i.e. a lot of people participate online), we could have Julian Sprung personally address a formulated set of questions from the group.

I think the reef volume 3 can be the next book.
It will give people time to order it (group buy?)
perhaps a vendor could hook up the book club :)

it will also give us time to get the kinks out, and if we do choose it, it will allow us time to contact Julian Sprung and give him time to decide what he would like to do. if it happens, having him as a guest participant would be sweet. I think maybe all the authors we choose should be made aware of what we are doing. i've not heard of anyone else doing this yet, could this be a reef forum first? I know if someone told me a group of reefers were going to discuss my book online, chapter by chapter i would be pyched.

Can you recommend any books or guides on reefing that has both corals and fish? Lots of pictures would be helpful.

Hi Gisela, In addition to the CMA by Fenner which we are covering, The Complete Encyclopedia of the Saltwater Aquarium by Nick Dankin is good reef book and the last few sections cover fish and corals and other inverts.

Does anyone know anyone who knows Robert Fenner? We should let him know we are reviewing his book. If not, does anyone volunteer to write a letter to his publisher?

I think any author would want to follow their thread. I also think any author knowing it's going on will also be praying it's a positive thread.

Reef Aquarium III should be a good follow up to Fenner. By then, everyone should be up to speed to appreciate the information D&S provide.

I think this is is also a good excuse to get together for some face to face discussions, as well as, and how could it be any other way, for:beer:   .

I'd be happy to host one. I just hope no one is allergic to dogs.

Fenner is one guy I don't actually know well, though we have met. A bit indirect, but should work-- contact Spracklecat who co founded C-Journal with Calfo who co-wrote with Fenner:)

Thanks Randy!

Al, I am a beginner myself so probably not the best judge of book "level". I would say this one is between beginner and intermediate. It does cover a lot of different material though so I am sure that even advanced people might pick up something or be reminded of something they already knew.

is this forum looking strange to anyone else?
I'm not seeing anybodys avatars and info other than leslies.

I ordered the book yesterday from amazon, I should have it some time next week. I also ordered calfo's and fenners invert book :) This is bad, now all my reef money is going to be going to books.
