BR1200,
I see that you're in Poway - have you ever spoken with any of the local guys regarding the SDMAS? We typically get together once/month at a members place and just hang out, talk reefs, share ideas, swap frags, etc. I'm down in the Mira Mesa area but we have several members right there in Poway, RB, etc. Heck, next month's meeting is at my place. (I think!
)
What made you go with hang on the back overflows rather than drilled overflows? (That's the way it looked to me - am I mistaken?) Additionally, how do you plan to plumb the main tank with the dual sumps? Will the sumps be connected via bulkheads or will they be individual sumps? I ask since the failure of a pump will have dire consequences if the two are completely separate and not connected - unless one sump alone can handle the overflow.
I'll have to show the wife your tank when it's up and running. We had planned to build a home in the Poway area (looked at some lots) and I wanted to include an 1100 gal (12'L x 4'W x 3'H) tank that could be viewed from three sides and be connected to a "fish room" with all the pumps, sumps, etc. Well, we never made the purchase (still looking!) and the recent SDG&E fiasco almost has me glad I didn't since I was planning on 12-400w MHs along with 12-160w VHO actinics for lighting the darn thing. It would have sent me to the poor house faster than a jackrabbit with its tail on fire - ouch!
In any event, best of luck to ya!
Randy
P.S. BTW - presume that this will be a reef due to your lighting, Ca Reactor, etc - do you plan to go sps, lps, softies, ??? What's yer flavor?
