I noticed you have a overhead projector.
For movies I assume.
Well with a tank that big and it has no choice BUT to be the SHOW STOPPER, I'll take that projector off your hands real cheap.
What's that you say? Yeah I know, it is a honerable gesture but hey anything to help you out!

BR1200,

I see that you're in Poway - have you ever spoken with any of the local guys regarding the SDMAS? We typically get together once/month at a members place and just hang out, talk reefs, share ideas, swap frags, etc. I'm down in the Mira Mesa area but we have several members right there in Poway, RB, etc. Heck, next month's meeting is at my place. (I think!

)

What made you go with hang on the back overflows rather than drilled overflows? (That's the way it looked to me - am I mistaken?) Additionally, how do you plan to plumb the main tank with the dual sumps? Will the sumps be connected via bulkheads or will they be individual sumps? I ask since the failure of a pump will have dire consequences if the two are completely separate and not connected - unless one sump alone can handle the overflow.

I'll have to show the wife your tank when it's up and running. We had planned to build a home in the Poway area (looked at some lots) and I wanted to include an 1100 gal (12'L x 4'W x 3'H) tank that could be viewed from three sides and be connected to a "fish room" with all the pumps, sumps, etc. Well, we never made the purchase (still looking!) and the recent SDG&E fiasco almost has me glad I didn't since I was planning on 12-400w MHs along with 12-160w VHO actinics for lighting the darn thing. It would have sent me to the poor house faster than a jackrabbit with its tail on fire - ouch!

In any event, best of luck to ya!

Randy

P.S. BTW - presume that this will be a reef due to your lighting, Ca Reactor, etc - do you plan to go sps, lps, softies, ??? What's yer flavor?

Well, I thought I would be cute and point out the sofa. It appears that I am way too late to pull it off.

I just want to know how you will clean the front pane in the center at the bottom w/o a front access? I have problems with my 140 because of the center brace, couldn't imagine it being another 3' away.

Looks great, I will have to have something like that in our dream home. I don't think the TV and fish tank will ever be put in the same room though. Between the two the tank always wins our attention.

Just wanted to let yas know that I was over Arnon's house this past week as he was filling up his pool, err, I mean tank, and the thing is absolutely breathtaking! I'm pretty proud of my little puddle of water in my LR yet his tank, without any corals and fish, looks more impressive due to its sheer size and endless posibilities. The fish room (renovated garage) sounds like Niagra Falls yet you can place your ear to the front tank panel, inside the house, and not hear a sound. Absolute quiet. I hate you Arnon!

Keep in mind if you are going to have 5x1000 watt HD on moving tracks , that at some point the heat off the lamps may melt top support.. ?( and with a 48" hight it wont take much to pop the seam..

kalk,

I believe Arnon has now gone to 3-1000w MHs (20,000K each) rather than the original 5-1000w MHs. The movement, as I understand it, is up and down, not across the tank.

The tank is actually considered "bullet-proof" as in you could shoot it and not penetrate the thickness. I guess he can market it as a safety feature if there's ever a break in at his house. You could hide in the tank while the bad guys shot at you.

I was talking with Arnon and found out that he has a 200 amp panel for the tank alone, not including what goes to his house. Most homes in my neighborhood only have a 100 amp panel to the house! Sheesh!

What are the specs of the tank, i'm guessing it is 1 1/2" thick acrylic made by?
the tank it self must have cost over 10,000$
I would like the same tank but only 36" tall.
I did a cost estimate on how much electricity it costs me per month to run my 180, it costs me 83$ @ 10.5 cents per/KWH
Good luck with your set up and thanks for the pics.
