PADI Advanced Open Water since 1991. Certified in Monterrey Bay with sea lions swimming circles around you wondering what's the big deal.

Been to Great Barrier Reef, Red Sea (water as clear as air), Hawaii, Florida, San Diego.

Best dive was an AUS$20 boat dive off the Barrier Reef, my very first after getting certified. The boat was full of snorkelers, so the captain and I took the dinghy and left them and the boat near a sandbar. I do my first "Jacques Cousteau" backflip off the side of the boat into the bathtub warm water. While I'm still revelling in the luxuriousness of the water, a 12 foot manta ray comes swimming RIGHT OVER MY HEAD. I was so stunned I didn't try to swim after it, and instead just followed its majestic "flight" away, laughing bubbles just spilling from my reg. I could have drowned right then, and been happy.
