Hydor Koralia Powerheads

jlneng, is my buddy and mentor when it comes to this hoppy, I get his over flows, he knows his stuff and always does all the research. Lucky to have him, but we do have IMO depates, and we pool are info, experience and loses in the tank, one thing we learned water changes with IO 20-30% every 10-14 days, just perks up everything and do not have to add all those trace elimates, 5-10 % does not do anything. I run a Kalkwasser drip to maintain, John runs a Calcium reactor, I have just not spent the money for one. We love the Hydors, time will tell on there longevity.

right thread, I am saying we Have had the Hydors, and love them, John has had the Vortchs and still working out bugs, and he is very thuro on his research on a product, but impaient, I do not want to say more because he gets this too, but we pool all of our trials and tripuations on our tanks and learn from each other.

Just passing on our water change experience since I have seen you respond to some from other threads. What is your overall experience in time with salt water, this not an offensive question, but I see you answer allot of threads and want to know if I can trust your experience or just IMO.

ok. well, i was saying that i just sent my model 3's back. did you know there was a recall on models 2 and 3? they upgrade you to model 4's for the trouble.
my overall experience with salt water is very brief. but my experience with Koralia pumps and the staff as Koralia USA, is extensive. and this is a thread about Koralia pumps. :?

btw- you can trust whoever's advice that ends up working for you. :wink:

hey folks, I did get one of these pumps and I am very impressed with it. I got the 1200 and I don't think it is too much for my 125. the flow is dispersed evenly and it goes across the whole back of my tank from one end to the other. It's a cool pump and not that expensive I hope it holds up. I would defenitely get another one when i need one again. for now I have the 1 big hydor and 2 maxi jets seems to be working out.

Can you elaborate on this a little bit more. I just turned in an order (to arrive friday)for the largest model and would find it odd that my supplier would even ship out something that was on a recall list.

The recall affects only the 2 and 3 models. Not the 1 or 4. Also while it hasn't been officially announced, some say the recall is due to voltage leaking into the tank from the 2 and 3 models.

From talking the Hydor USA, the problem is that some of the 2's and 3's motors weren't sealed properly, so they are recalling them. Very nice people to deal with.

I like the karalia's, Ijust wish they weren't so big - which is why I am getting a vortech as well.

That is why they tripped my GFI last week and if I try to put it on that outlet it keeps tripping.

I just got a call from Dr.F&S, the recall is just on the 2's and 3's and since there is so many to deal with you are suppose to deal with Hydor's customer service department, there number to call in the US is 1-866-493-6787. Which I am going to now.

Just talked to Hydor, send them to Hydor USA, 4147 Northgate Blvd., Suite 6, Sacramento, CA., 95834 with a brief note. They are getting the replacements flown in from Italy next week.

ok a couple of days ago my tank shut down on the surge protector, i have the hydor 1200 which is a 4. think i have an issue? my tank hasn't shut down in a long time on the surge protector. if it happens again i may want to figure it out maybe it is the newest addition to my tank the mighty hydor coralia!!

anyway-i've had two of the smallest korallias, and a #2 running my nano pretty much since it's been setup (around july) they're wonderful-i could never see myself getting a tunze or a vortech, given the phenomenal price difference

best high volume low velocity powerhead for the money around, imo
