my lfs has two of them running on the display tank, they are very nice at a good price. my lfs says the tunze and vortechs are more powerful and controllable but the hydors are a killer value. i think this one is more like the tunze nanostream.

I like to save $$$$ just like anyone.
BUT, Iam not upto the idea of having to go back online or back to the LFS here local, he too has a couple of these running on display and 1 of the oscillating deflector type. They both do exactly as designed.
Iam not into replacing pumps because of cost driven.
TUNZE is like SONY, you most definantly get what you pay for, ONCE. Thus, keeping the tank inhabitants as 'user friendly' as possible
So, Ill stick with the electronic tf-02 multiple. Complete, compact for NANO setups and reliable long term service.

Just my reasoning from experiance :P

Very good link Duane.

They did sound loud to me. Guys, I currently just use maxi jets with a hydor attachment, and everything is growing well. Looking at those at ratings of 1200gph, I would assume I could get rid of all my power heads and only have 2 of those new ones at 1200gph. Giving me 2400gph in my 125. Does that sound like a good idea, or what.

Sorry dude not trying to Jack your thread, you just got me thinking now... I just would not want them if they are really loud..

Heard that they're ok but obviously not tunze/vortech material. Cheap little things that are probably better than the cheap linear flow powerheads. :)

i have been looking into getting one of these hydor pumps to try it out. so far, everyone is back ordered.
my return from sump is 700 gph, and my largest powerhead is 400gph, and it is just that-LARGE. i need a suitable replacement, and frankly, more current. as always, i am trying not to spend a pile of money. :?

X as soon as you get one let me know your thoughts. I too do not want to spend a lot of money on flow. Based on my tank everything seems really happy now, but I just thought these would be better. They seem a bit smaller than my MJ's and I thought i could get away with 3 of them and cover the tank really well. Thanks guys.

ok. but from what i have been reading, they are somewhat bigger than MJ12's. shavo is getting the 1200gph model and i think i'm gonna go for something about half that strong.
how many max jets do you run now?

I run 4 1200's plus my return lines or whatever they are called. I have 2 on each side of the tank. They seem smaller than the maxi jet, but it is hard to gauge with pictures. Keep me updated I am curious. Also if he gets one let me know how noisy they are..

So if I did not want to pay for tunz they would be a big upgrade from maxi jets with hydor attachments???
Going from the MJs (the hydor actually cuts the flow down a good bit) to a tunze, in my opinion is like going from riding a bike (where walking would be the worst) to driving a mercedes!!! :) You gotta pay for the gas but it's worth it. ;)

The koralia is probably a vespa, though. :P

But now I definitely have my mind set on a closed loop though. It's like a different style mercedes!!! :D

So if the Mercedes is not in my budget, then a vespa is at least running compared to walking right?
Should be. :D The Koralia definitely seems to be better than the MJs. For one, they move more water. Secondly, the flow is more dispersed, for sure.

Now, whether or not they're too noisy or too bulky, might be personal preference. Not that tunzes and vortechs aren't bulky, anyways. ;)
