I just noticed one of the #4s in my 180 was not running last night. Hopefully it just needs to be cleaned...

Don't stick your hand in there without unplugging it! That's what happened to one of mine, in case you didn't see my post earlier, and I got zapped.

Heh - I learned long ago never to touch anything submerged that is not working correctly unless it's unplugged!:D

I cleaned it and it's running again, but now it's making noise... :?

Come to think of it - I've been having a problem with my GFI tripping when I shut the powerhead circuits off (never when turning them on though :?)... ...wondering now if this could be the K4s...

BTW, I'm trying out a couple of the new Sure Flow conversion kits on some old MJs I had lying around and so far I like these more than the K4s. More flow, less energy draw, very quiet and more compact...

Just FYI, in order of most to least flow (measured by highly technical "hand-in-front-of-pump" method) - energy consumption measured on a kill-a-watt:
Tunze 6060 - 16 watts
Sure Flow MJ (MJ 600 body) - 8 watts
Hydor K4 - 12 watts

Nice comparison, Chris. The price comparison woul dpu the MJ at the bottom, right?

BTW, did you try the MJ kit on a MJ 1200?

I have. Works great, low wattage, low price, nice big flow.

Matt, did you use the sure grip magnet holder? I so, do you think that two 600 will fit on one sure grip 50? O r should I get the Sure Grip 100?

Just for comparison purposes, I tried the Sure Flow kits in several MJ bodies (I have a whole bucket of old pumps! ). I tested a 400, two different 600s, a 900 and two different 1200s. I couldn't tell any difference in performance between any of them and they all had similar power draw on the meter.

Haven't tried the included holder yet (mine are just mounted with the old MJ suction cup bracket at the moment) so nothing to add there...

BTW, rumor has it that there will be a higher flow version of these available in the future (different prop). I think it was like a 2000 GPH rating IIRC...

I called Hydor today about my 2 Koralia 2 pumps that shocked me. The rep I got could not have been more accomodating. He said it was likely due to the stray voltage issue that they had a while back with them. He said most of them had already been replaced, however there were still a few coming in like mine. He was even willing to upgrade mine to the Koralia 3 pumps for free.

yes, they have no problem sending out a new pump. i originally bought 3's, and they sent me 4's to replace them. i had to get one of the 4's replaced since then, but i'll give them an "A" for flow rates and customer service.
