I've caught many shrimp and crabs using a killie trap which is a wire fish trap used for catching bait. It has two inverted funnels where fish will swim into but can't swim out. You don't have to use bait, fish will swim in looking for shelter. Just tie a rope to it, throw it in the water, and check it the next day.

They are just about impossable to keep for any length of time. They last a few weeks. I don't feel bad for them because I spend a considerable amount of time trying to get them off of my boat props and outdrive. Nasty little suckers.
Maybe I will put a picture of my reef tank near my propellers to scare them off

I use a small two man seine net, we got thousands of grass shrimp and small fish for food. There are fiddler crabs, Japanese shore crabs and amphipods.
Paul, I wasn't aware that you guys visited PW...I live about 5 minutes away from where you guys went to collect. Plmk next time you guys head out.
