thanks for the information Paul, Booze so sorry to hear about your leg. I hope it's nothing serious and you recover quickly!

Paul that turtle location sounds great, I'd chip in for gas to visit that spot. I got a new macro lens I'd love to try out on location.

When I fed the tank last night I saw a few of the shrimp grabbing pieces of mysis  they are going to get spoiled in my tank.

Bad news, Boozeman spent the night in the hospital from the scrape on his leg he got from the barnacles on the rocks. It got infected and they are giving him antibiotics. He feels he will be out today and on oral antibiotics but he is not sure.
I wish him well.
As was said, collecting is a dangerous sport especially on those rocks which are the same rocks I got cut 2 weeks ago. In the future we will not be climbing on the rocks.
Paul

Hope all goes well Booze...

Jhale the place I am talking about is a ride to get to and there is a couple of miles of tide pools and Sound Beaches. You need a boat to get to it. The turtles are not in the pools, they are in deeper water and while you can see their heads sticking out of the water they will speed away at your approach. I used to chase them with SCUBA to get close but they swim faster than I do.
Very few people know about it.
The other place is on Huckelberry Island which is a tiny uninhabited Island just off New Rochelle. It was a big deal during prohibiton and is the place where I collected all of my antique bottles. They used to have booze parties and when they saw the Coast Guard, they would throw the bottles into the sea. The gambling tables are still there as are a few of the small buildings.
There is only a small beach to collect on but the SCUBA diving is great there. The place is full of beautiful pure white anemones about 7" tall. They will not live in a reef tank.

I've gotta say that the corals & fish in my tank loved all the grass shrimp, pods and crud that I dumped in. The corals opened up and the fish were swimming/waddling around stuffed (to the gills) with shrimp antennae sticking out of their mouths. Also looks more natural with all the plants.
I heard that grass shrimp jump but I figured that with my glass tank cover they would be contained. The next morning I checked out the tank and about 20 shrimp were laying on the carpet and on the glass cover. There was only a 1 inch opening in the back. Boy can they jump. I just crushed them up and had super fresh dried shrimp for the occupants.

By the time I got back fromt he lunch, I have more 20 laying on the ground thru a slit out of the lid that I want to let air into the bucket. LOL. My turtle love them that way.

You guys should have specified that you wanted shrimp that diden't jump out. They are in a different place :tongue1:
These are like Olympic hopefull shrimp. It must be all that pristine water they live in that everyone is afraid to use in their tanks. :bablefish
I will check on Booze in a few minutes, in the meantime, anyone want to go collecting? I am still fixing the boat. I just came back from the marina to replace the thermostat just for the hell of it but the problem lies elsewhere. Tomorrow I will swim under the boat to check my hunch.
Take care.

Actually when we got back to the boat he put an antiseptic on it but from the time he scraped it until he got back to the boat an hour had gone by and he was in the water for about 15 minutes of that.
I just called his cell phone and left a message to call me. He diden't answer so now I am worried about him.

Thank you all for your concerns and well wishes :inlove:

I am back home and resting, don't know why/how but that scrape took a very nasty and rapidly progressing infection. Even the Drs, were impressed at how fast it spread to the point that my whole leg got swollen. I am doing fine now and I'm sure things will finish clearing up with the continued taking of antibiotics. :givebeer: I will post the pics I took of the trip (not as good as Jonathans ) along with a gross leg pic i took with my cell phone in the hospital
