On second thought, after reading "Demonreefers" posts, he has a point. I too would like to know where the Plankton and Mysis are coming from and who the maker is.

Change my order to "pending" the above question.

Thanks!

Nicole,

I'll add you to the order.

Demo, NRA - you guys are welcome to do what you want - I posted what was sent to me via email on the nutritional value - Argent harvests this stuff and makes these blocks for fisheries - not sure what more you'd like. I mean call it Bob's Fish food if you need to call it something or you can look up the nutritional value of it e.pacifica, e.superba for the krill and e.relicta for the mysis.

I'll take 1/2 block of Bob's Mysis Fish Food.

It was an excellent product in the past for me and the amount of repeat buyers on this year's list is a testament to that.

Is it dolphin safe?

and whale safe from the research I have found.

Lissa, there are differences, but this product has proven record over the past 2 years - the plankton (e.pacifica) was the meal of choice last year which replaced the e.relicta of the years past. From what i was able to gather from my conversations with the sales person at Argent, the mysis has slightly more proteins and oils and really means little in the grander scheme of things - apparently, some fisheries consider that as the growth speed of thier livestock depends on their nutrition.

I exclusively used the e.pacifica last year and eliminated the e.relicta because of it's relative size to the animals I kept - wrasses and anthias more specifically - my fish were FAT -

Cali, on the other hand, has quite a few large angels and he likes to feed them msyis (speculating here) and am guessing why he likes that product - although, the PE mysis is preferred, but priced accordingly :-(

Anyhow, any additional nutritional facts I get on the food, I'll pass along to all - if people don't want to participate, that's thier prerogative - no harm no foul.

I was just curious, I still want to participate. My fish aren't so fussy about mysis actually... they'll all eat it, but not with the same voracity as they consume cyclo, pellets and flake. I'm hoping they'll like the e. pacifica because it's smaller.

As per your previous post. It seems that the company you posted, Does not sell mysis and plankton. Only cyclop eeze! They also stated to me that they do not sell to the General public. That I would have to call a seller .

Attached to their email was a company.
From my conversation with them this afternoon. My order came out cheaper even with shipping. Their cost of Plankton is $26 and Mysis is $30 if you get 2 or more its $27 each. Shipping is $8 for about 4 blocks. They also sell the same packages of cyclopeeze for $40.

I crossed check your weight of the block to the one they sell. It matchs 100%. I will assume you buy your products from the same place since cyclop eeze will not sell to stores and enclosed that company.

Thank you again

John

P.S. I did not ask you about nutritional value! I asked what name brand the food was. I do not find it funny that a Moderator would not be honest and give a new member the run around. If new members are not welcomed then i understand.Ill stick the LFS and other forums. At least there people disclose the website or store they do groups buys from.

John,

Look at that - you found the information out for yourself and now have jeopardized this order for the whole community - Nice work

It was clear to me from the onset of your notes that you had an agenda - since I have no idea who you are and have vowed to protect the company (jemco) - I did what they asked of me and that was to direct any inquiries to the Argent lab site. Remember, they aren't supposed to sell to the general public and by me making the connection in an attempt to do a service to this community buy asking them to jeopardize their positon, there is a serious risk to us even being able to do this ever again.

Argent is the lab that cultures them and jemco is the company that sells to fisheries - thier pricing structure is for fisheries - if you want to buy it and they'll sell it to you, be my guest an order the 60+ blocks of food and put out over 2 g's for the order that i have been doing for years - you're welcome to do it - quite honestly, this has never been worth the hassle that it brings on - but since you question my character, be my guest an take the prioject on.

I would suggest you do more research and speak to them more often - thier prices - by block and sales - varies based on thier ability to farm the animals they culture which has alot to do with weather, etc this in turn drives thier pricing etc. The price you were quoted is "point -in-time" and can change tomorrow. You're going to believe what you want to, so, feel free to continue to post what you KNOW. So far you're almost on the right track.

If anyone is inclined to back out of this order, feel free to do so - I would rather you feel better about not participating than questioning my ability to run a group buy honestly.

Price Increase

Dace,

Last year - everyone paid $21 a block plus shipping and paypal for the plankton - this year it's $26 that's an almost 20% increase -

if you want the exact numbers fromlast year I have the spreadsheet to talk through.

Wow hope this is not true. Ive bought in the past two group buys and i have been happy with my purchase. I don't think Jim would do such a thing, By i would also have to call this number and see for my self if these assumptions are true. would be very disappointing.

Jim, having fun in Vegas??
You should slap "Jim's super mysis" on these blocks and sell them at retail price:lol2:. I am in regardless the brand.

I have bought these in Jim's group buy in the last two years, best mysis I have used for my fish. You can't get them cheaper elsewhere and my fish loves them.

Demonreefer, not sure what the problem is but you should at least go back and delete the contact info, I don't need bunch people calling the place and screw up a good group buy source. Good deal for the hobby are getting scarce because of dumb people.

I'm sorry, I support Jim's Group buy and the product he sells, my fish are healthy and happy. I also have to say, that doing a group buy of this nature and size is daunting and I would not begrudge someone of either covering any and all costs BUT reading through this thread I did some research on the pricing of these units and I see a problem...

If this was in HOF vendors forum, this would be moot, but considering its in the GB forum the difference of the price given to us for these blocks and the price of what we can get for ourselves is a lot...

I'm alittle sketchy on the GB Forum rules, but can we make such profits (compensations) here?!?

Don't mean to offend or question motives, but I would consider myself a hypocrite if after my notorious "Who's responsible" thread, that this should be stated....too many gray areas and people are noticing

...just 1 more thing, my responce was not meant to produce anger, hostility or malice. It was just an observation and if a mistake was made it should be fixed and case (thread) closed...concidering the climate on site for these past months i believe we as a group should give the benifit of the doubt.

Again brew ha ha....
I don't see anywhere in this thread (although I could be going blind), where Jim has stated a firm price....?
The prices are different every year based on farming etc...
...the block price is based on an average block size and they come in different sizes - that means the actual price won't be finalized until the blocks get here and I assign each block to a person. Tedious, I know, but it's worth it for the MR crew!
... Each block order will have a flat shipping charge to it
Look for the actual price per gram of each item (ocean plankton, krill, mysis and cyclopeeze) as soon as I hear back from the vendor.
