Having been a member of MR for a little bit now I can say the following. Jim is a stand up guy. He breaks his hump to do this group buy for the members here. Running group buys are thankless for the most part because you need to lay out $$ and keep track of everything and store it until people pick their stuff up. I remember last years group buy and Jim opened his freezer to show me all of the stuff and I remember going back after the swap and there were still a lot of stuff in there that people didn't pick up. But Jim was storing it and for some Jim put out the cash for that he never got paid back for.

How can I say this without saying anything inflammatory? ( I hate having to ask myself this question because it usually backfires :lol2: )

If you want in on the group buy get in on it, but if you're trying to prove a point by posting, or you think something about the group buy isn't right, PM the mods (or Josh directly) or go to PM's with the members you want to reach out and touch.

Demon, I don't know you but I have seen things like this start before next thing you know group buys from salt companies get messed up for us and one of us and our vendors gets screwed. If that's your motive it's a good way to lose MR members as your customers. I personally went to a store that pulled this on us once, had them put together a nice sized order of dry goods, equipment and live stock then told them I wasn't interested in spending my money at their establishment because I knew I could get better prices online and then I walked out. The owner was speechless. I got in my truck and drove away with a  If it's not your motive then so be it. My suggestion to you is to read things carefully and ask around before jumping to any conclusions.

Like I said before Jim is a stand up member of MR and wouldn't screw anyone here at MR. That's my 2 cents.

I could not say it better than Chief did, so I'll just say "ditto"

I've looked at the pricing, I do not know what kind of **** DemonReefer is trying to stir up, but the pricing is the same as if you bought it yourself. And we are saving on the shipping. So if you want to be part of the group buy, great place your order, if not then don't post anything here.

and Chief for this you are my hero forever :D

Cali,

I won about $200 on .02 slots :biglaugh: high roller!!

Mike,

Last year (Fall 2006), you paid $20.80 plus shipping for your 2.6 kilo plankton block - further proves my assertion correct that the increase this year is a large one (seems to be close to 20%).

One of the largest missing components here is that the size of the block is determined by the average gram charge - NEVER has the membership subsidized me in anyway - nor will it ever with GB's like this. That's my comittment to this club regardless of the work required or stones thrown.

Here is how it ACTUALLY works - assuming I am still able to get the order:

1) Once we are close to a final block count - we add the blocks up in total and then the salesperson at jemco says "X" total blocks
2) Once the total blocks is determined and total grams is determined, he quotes me a price per gram - they are usually in line with the block discount prices - sometimes more, sometimes less - I don't control this - demand and the salesman does.
3) Once I have that info, I plug that into a very elaborate spreadsheet and charge everyone the per gram price for a 2.5k block - that gets plugged into the spreadsheet with a estimated shipping cost and an exact paypal fee.
4) I collect everyones $ and plug that into the spreadsheet based on 2.5kilos.
5) When the order arrives, I plug in the ACTUAL block weights on each individual person trying to get as close to 2.5 as possible - again, I don't control this, they do - I just use the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet calculates the per gram price against the actual block size, subtracts the paypal fee from the total payment received, deducts the block fee from the net funds received, adds the shipping fee and totals out.

When all is said and done, each person has either a "0" balance a +/- balance. If it is positive (meaning the amount you paid is more than the amount you owed) you are refunded. If it is less, then you owe me that balance. For the most part - I was able to get within $2 +/- on each order. Whenever I owed a member that $2 they typically said keep it -

Ihope that dispells the doubt rather than confuse. It's not as simply priced as it was laid out to be by others posting.

Everyone else, I'll update the order/2nd post as soon as I can.

If anyone else has any questions, please PM me and not here in this thread - I'd like to keep the order going with only orders.
