Although I don't advocate the approach of certain individuals, I believe the concern regarding questions surrounding the Orbitech patent was directed at the following:
If Orbitech were to pursue litigation against Pacsun how would this impact warranty issues? Let's face facts...Orbitech most likely has attorneys on payroll so they can outspend a small company's ability to defend/litigate its position. This is how Solaris went out of business. Once the company is defunct we all saw the decline in value and in parts availability for the product. This raises concerns with any new product that may be accused of patent infringement. To make an investment in a product, in my instance possibly $3000, and then perhaps loose the ability to obtain parts, warranty/customer service, firmware updates etc would be a tremendous loss & possibly render the product useless. The breakeven point for any LED light when comparing w/MH & associated electricity costs is typically 3 to 5 years therefore if the manufacturer is put out of business prior......you get the point. The product seems great however this is a tremendous consideration. Just my 2 cents.......

OK, so I already posted these in the other thread, but for those interested we we go again. I picked up my PacSun 120w units from Rafal yesterday. I unboxedtehm last night and will put them on the tank in a temporary method while I build the canopy.

I think most folks have already seen screent shots of the software.

These units were amazingly simple to connnect. The Bluetooth setup was also ridicuously easy. I love the amount of control I have over the units, so I can acclimate my tank to these new lights (going frrm 150w MH).

Rafal has some spare parts should they be necessary, but everything worked out of the box. Havig him on this board is a huge benefit. I did not wrihte down the Bluetooth security code that Rafal told me when he was explaining the setup and software. I posted here and had a pm from him in seconds. Hard to beat that kind of support.

More photos later after they are over my tank.

Very Important point. The answer to this is that the units come with a manufacturer's warranty. Here in the US, PacSunUSA is simply providing the servicing. The lamps and their parts are still warranteed under the Main Company in Poland. If, there were any issues to arise due to Orbitel (and I say this because here in the US, anyone can sue anyone for anything, you don't need to be right to file a lawsuit), the product is still covered and we are still here to help with warranty issues.

hmm... looks like Shine Tech power supply-very standard specs-easy enough to find replacement in case of issues in the future.

Hopefully we don't have any issues with these drivers. I know there was a small problem with some humming noise in the some of the 1st Gen (because of a capacitor), but I believe it was addressed. But good to know that we always have you Wingo!

Thanks Felix.....sounds like a reasonable explanation.
Frank

You really believe the US company that's busy fighting a patent infringement will worry about warranty repair on some lights for free? PFO realized their law suit will be detrimental and decided to file bankruptcy, you think someone that can't even tell the truth will follow thru and fight to win? A warranty by the polish manufacture is just about useless.

Good luck with everyone that step up and took a chance, hope your lights won't need servicing under these circumstances.

Felix, my problem with you is you can't be up front with straight answers, as far as I am concern, you are all about $$ and will say and do just about anything to get $$. The US have a patent system and laws to protect people's inventions, while I don't agree with the broad scope of Orbitec's patents, they have every rights to defend their patent and so far looks like they are doing a good job at it. Good luck shilling and don't forget to dose that vodka :lol2:..

Yes!...I?ve had them for a couple of months now, but just started to use them 5-6 wks. ago. So far everything looks nice, SPS shows fine grow tips and fine polyp extention, only problem is that I now need to use my heater (room temperature around 72 F). I?m using the Vortech MP40 so no additional heat there. I?m running tank at 77 F. The good thing is that now I?m able to control tank temperature within 1/10 degree Celsius year round no matter outside temp..
I?ve actually been thinking of covering the tank in order to keep temp. up and avoid evaporation....but it might not be a good idea due to too little gas exchange CO2/O2 whitch might cause pH problems.
