makes me want to run out and do business with you guys. rafal do you have one of these light fixtures on a tank ? if so how long have you been using it ? id love to go the led route eventually, but will wait for prices to cut in half or for the fixtures to be worth the price. $1200 for me to light my tank is a little crazy, and yes i know i spend more then that over the yr's, but it isnt a one lump sum, it's spread out

Thank you.:groupflip

but some people will still not believe you and try to dispute the CREE pdf and linear structural relations.

The problem is - most of all leds are "nominally" rated at 1W. Of course they may be powered with bigger current, but "the point of entry" is still 350mA (about 1W).

look for example at cree XPG datasheet. http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/XLampXP-G.pdf - page 5. They still marking 350mA as 100% of intensity.

Next, analysing chart on page5 you should reach the point that 3x1 is more light than 1x3 ;)

hey warren...i think you'll have to start a new thread. unfortunately this one has been hijacked.
i don't even know if it's about the led itself or the people who build them, sell them, like them, don't like them, etc. anymore. they strayed off the subject you started. it's more like a verbal battle ground here....lol.

Yes you are right - this is what i wanted to say, but as you see iam not speaking english very well so sometime i have troubles with "words".

True for Cree XP-G LED, but the original question was towards your 1W rated LED vs. AI's XP-G running at 3W. Are you saying PS lights uses uses the same XP-G LED @ 330mA? Let's see the data sheet for the PS 1W LED and put this issue of who has more lights for the same power consumption to bed. This should be fairly straight forward to settle.

Do you even know what the question or the subsequent post with PDF file means?

I found your tank pictures for you, and while I was at it, I found all the post you have made on RC :scratchch. I wonder why they deleted your thread :shocked1:..

I don't think this thread is about PS LED only, I believe Warren's original intent is to share what he learned about ALL THE LED's he used and have a discussion about the pro's and con's of all LED's.

Most of the questions are valid points for people to consider when INVESTING thousands of $$, even some of the shilling post which became a fact finding on certain vendors :lol2:.

I do find those comments\posts without any contribution to LED anoying... If you feel this is too technical for you, just go ahead and drop the $$ on what you like, no need to add drama to an already dramatic thread;).

There are additional cost savings that I have not seen mentioned here. If you are running MH, you generally have to run a chiller. A chiller is expensive to operate. The chiller itself produces a lot of heat that is released into your room. Now my A/C unit has to work harder to remove the heat from my home. I have not plunked down the $$ to have fun light fixtures, but the overall savings should pay for the units in a little more than a year and a half when you consider the units electrical savings and the reduction in heat load to both my chiller and my A/C.

I have ordered the Pacific Sun units. After many months of research, they are the best on the market. Felix and Rafal ALWAYS answer the phone. Even on weekends!
I am in Florida,......far from them. But they are running a legit business. And I feel you would be very happy with their customer service and as I have already stated,.....AT THIS TIME,.....they have the best units on the market.

You are correct that it should be informative - but some turn this into constant personal trips.

For those who live in NJ - stop by Absolutely Fish - they have following LED lights in the store:

1. Solaris
2. Eco-Lamp KR-92
3. Pacific Sun 120W
4. unknown brand -

Azazel - can you show the math behind so Cali would understand it and compare to 1W? some people just cant let it go. I bet he will find another issue tomorrow.

I don't think this thread is about PS LED only, I believe Warren's original intent is to share what he learned about ALL THE LED's he used and have a discussion about the pro's and con's of all LED's.

Valid points, but in NY in winter the opposite is true as well where the heat traditionally generated from MH lamps needs to be compensated for by the heaters to keep the temps warm enough. In the cooler months at least, the savings gap narrows.

It is a shame that this thread has gone the way it did, i did find it very informative and it is part of the reason that i am going LED.

PS looks like a nice product from what i saw at the winter swap but the company is new and i can't justify to myself spending $$$ to a company that has no history here in the US.

You really believe the US company that's busy fighting a patent infringement will worry about warranty repair on some lights for free? PFO realized their law suit will be detrimental and decided to file bankruptcy, you think someone that can't even tell the truth will follow thru and fight to win? A warranty by the polish manufacture is just about useless.

Good luck with everyone that step up and took a chance, hope your lights won't need servicing under these circumstances.

Felix, my problem with you is you can't be up front with straight answers, as far as I am concern, you are all about $$ and will say and do just about anything to get $$. The US have a patent system and laws to protect people's inventions, while I don't agree with the broad scope of Orbitec's patents, they have every rights to defend their patent and so far looks like they are doing a good job at it. Good luck shilling and don't forget to dose that vodka :lol2:..

Cali, I'm really having trouble figuring out what deception you are accusing me of? What have I not been up front about? Does anyone else see some sort of conspiracy here? Really, this is an attack at my reputation and personality and I need to know what it is you are talking about.

PFO went down and it's a well established company. So....good luck with the warranty if anything happen, just have to keep your finger crossed.

That is why i am going with AI, i know they are the most $ but part of that $ is going to Orbitec so AI can continue to research and produce there product.

As for warranty issues, i have been researching AI and i have never seen a complaint about it since its introduction.

Cali_Reef & Rareclowns, I cannot figure you two out. You have a few guys who have a really good product. And it seems you just started to bash their product and the guys themselves. I have read every post over the 30 pages and the both of you seem really petty. I am fairly new to Manhattan Reef and have spent a lot of time reading through the forums. I have read a lot of posts from Cali_reef in other forums,...and up to this point, I thought you was a stand up guy. I personally have ordered some PacSun units and am offended by your attack on what I have spent my hard earned money on. I researched LED units thoroughly and found these units far superior to anything else out there. AI does make a decent light fixture, but does not give me the coverage of the PacSun units. And I did not want to have to spend several hundred additional dollars for a lamp controler that can do what comes standard with the PacSun units. What surprises me is how strongly you attacked the units,...then the individuals that are trying to make an honest living selling the units. Digging, prodding, trying to find anything you could to discredit the product or the individuals. (Did you look under the carpet to see if there was any dirt,.....so you could say the store was dirty?) Shame on you! I purchased a product that I consider to be the best for my needs and desires at this time. Will something be improved,....of course. There is no product in this world that is not improved over time. (Sometimes in a relatively short time.) My iMac computer is 3 years old,..but it is far from obsolete. If you buy quality the first time around,....it will last you many years. With the way the two of you attacked this product,.....I am suspicious that you are associated with another similar product. This may not be the case. But you have not shown anyone your right to practice law by passing your states bar either.

It's a shame vendors were allowed to join this discussion and turn a non-biased discussion into an info-mercial.

god cant we have a civilized conversation thats informative and can help people out.anyway i went to a meeting and heard alot about these lights.some people from atlantis came and were discussing these lights as well.ACAN has a nice selection of LED lights and the people were raving about them.yet again other motives could have been there but they looked wonderful.and james is a stand up guy it seems.i read some of the par reading and at 36 in above the meter i believe the par was at 28.as for the product i wish it was on the market longer so i can determine quality of the light in the long run.it does have a 2 year warranty and for an extra 100 if it does go in the warranty years he will lend u a light till yours is fixed
