If you really don't need a lot of water, why not just invest in a heavier duty plastic container made for water? I see some on Amazon for less than $10 for 5 gallon water jugs.

It's normal if your sediment is 5 micron and your carbon is 1 micron... Even if they are the same, the ratings are nominal...

IME, spend the money on the ones with 10" clear canisters. The portable 50 GPD are junk or at least the one I got. I've even changed out the connectors. Anyway, I got one on ebay was $120 for a 6 stage 150GPD I think from Titan Pro. I got oversized because I don't want to wait and forget...

Been using a computer since 1993 in HS and had a tube monitor up until 2003 or 2004. My job is in the IT industry so I'm glued to a monitor all the time and when I was playing games back then in front of a CRT monitor and TV. Haven't had a need to wear glasses.

IME, could be phosphates too high, not enough nutrients, or too much light and it's adjusting by dying off. Took my a few bunches to finally get it to grow. It doesn't need to tumble if it has water flow through it. I have it growing in a basket near the surface and the flow is directed to it.

Looks like the size of the florida crushed coral I get a long time ago, that was a detritus trap. Not a concern if you're not keeping many fish or inverts.

Is the rocks porous? I find porous rocks tends to trap detritus more easily which the HA will feed on even if the pump is blowing on the rock directly.

It's bad when it's growing out of control. One strand that doesn't look like it's surviving won't cause any harm. It's no difference than other maintenance, keep it in check.

I guess it depends on how wide your sump will be. I bought a used 30 long sump that had acrylic baffles siliconed and I had to scrape the silicone off before I could remove the baffles. It was pretty solid. You'd probably need one of those GE silicone as that's probably how much that person used.
