  1. Osama's tank ... Pictures

Outstanding. What a beautiful tank!!!! :)
  2. premium aquatics

PA is my favorite online vendor. I'm close enought that ground shipments arrive within two days (sometimes even next day). Jason's customer service is second to none. If you haven't gotten a response, just give them a call or send an email, and I'm sure they'll update you.
  3. Need some convincing

I did exactly this on one side of my 450 gallon tank, and yes there has been a major change. Growth rates have improved and colors have changed. You will definitely see a diference.
  4. Stocking new tank with SPS

I would definitely start with something other than SPS. Get going with a few hardy softies, but no Sinularia or Sarchophyton as they release toxins into the water that can cause problems with SPS. I'd also stay away from things that are dificult to remove like xenia and star polyps. Some...
  5. Reef Clubs in Minneapolis

TCMAS is the local club. Our next meeting is on Thursday April 10th. If you're in town, I'm sure you'd be welcome. Go to www.TCMAS.org for more info, or you can email me if you'd like.
  6. Calcium reactor and Kalkwasser = Bad Combo??

Hi Craig, just to clarify, If your Kalk reactor is on a timer, I assume you would want it to be on when the tank lights are off. Is that correct?
  7. Poll: best reef tank size

Bigger is better in my book. I'm setting up my 450 right now, and it seems kinda small.
  8. Can standard Oceanic 1" drains handle Ampmaster?

R&B is going by the chart on the website which I believe to be a misprint. I am going by experience with a wattage meter. The higher the head pressure, the more energy it uses. With the pressure of running it through a beckett skimmer the AM3K draws over 2 amps.
  9. HELP!! Need Quick Help

Put the LR in the tank. The bacteria from the LR will colonize the sand, and the result wioll be that the tank will clear, often times in a matter of hours, but usually at least within 1 day. As long as your salinity, PH and temp are good, it won't cause much die off on the rock.
  10. Can standard Oceanic 1" drains handle Ampmaster?

Liquid, you are correct I entered 3000 GPH. If I enter 2000 GPH, I come out with 11.12 feet of head pressure which is around 1800 GPH, so I stand corrected  . This is still under the 2000 GPH level that he wanted to get, also if those 4 bends are 90 degrees, that lowers the out put to...
  11. Can standard Oceanic 1" drains handle Ampmaster?

Not to argue with you Nathan, but your calculation was based on 7' verticle rise, 12 foot horizontal run, and 1 90 degree bend. He stated that it is actually 8', 14' and 4 bends. In a best case scenario using those numbers and assuming the bends are 45 degrees not 90 degrees, this comes out to...
  12. Can standard Oceanic 1" drains handle Ampmaster?

As stated before, the Ampmaster handles head pressure very poorly. I have a basement sump, and actually just use a Mag24 as the return through a 1" Sea Swirl. It gives me about 1000GPH. I also run a closed loop and have a couple of SWR external PH's on the tank. I tried the Ampmaster 3000...
  13. an old dream... can you help?

The dimensions you give equate to about 418 gallons. It will be very expensive. I am currently setting up a 400 gallon tank, and have over $9000 invested, although 3700 was for the tank and stand. Good luck with yours.
  14. Water movement survey

    About 3000GPH in a 125.
  15. What did you get for Christmas??!!

Not much fishy stuff, but I got a Coolpix 995. Can't wait to figure out how to use it!!!
