Feel better man! Is your tank open for visit? Maybe i'll stop by some time when i get a chance....lol!

Anytime Sam :spin:

Mark, here's a pic from tonight. I went back to a 14k halide while I am waiting for the Sfigioli fixture to come. The seller needs his new Ati/led to come first so who knows when that will be?!?!

Thank you afrenandez!

Just to update I am extremely pissed. I was trying to buy a used sfigoli 400w fixture. The seller apparently doesn't want to sell now. I tried to buy a used fixture from Aquarium Speciality for $610. The listing was misleading. First I find out that the ballast isn;t included, and then they inform me that the shipping is $250 from italy. So the fixture went from $610-$950. I canceled order. I officially hate LED's now ;)

That sucks about the light man... Definitely misleading advertising. But you hate LEDs because a company mislead you about a 400 watt MH? :scratchch

This might be the time to try a Mitras or Radion! :D

Tank looks great though!

Yes, because LED's are killing the halide market lol. No interest in LED's on this tank right now. After I grow it out I would consider it.

I am liking the 14K on your tank Rich. Looks very nice. Although I will admit the 20K you had in there previously really made the colors pop out at you! Beautiful tank regardless. lol.

Thanks David. The growth was suffering a little with the 20k EVC. I lost the pink tips on my abrotanoides, and some growth tips on a few other acros. In only a week with an Ushio 14k I already see things changing for the better. I had to raise the fixture 2" because my pink stylo was actually getting a little cooked :) The ushio 14k does still look yellow with this ballast though.

It was difficult to find the right size grip locks to hang this thing. Finally, after a little rigging, it's over the tank (temporarily). I have to make new holes in the ceiling to position fixture further back over tank. It's hard to tell from the video but i actually like the look of the Sfigioli over the tank. The color of the radium is amazing. I plan on running it without t5 so electrical use would be the same as the previous 250w geismann fixture I was using.

That light looks absolutely stunning! Can't go wrong with a 400W Radium 20k.

I admit ... I think I will be copying you with a 400W MH! lol.

David you have to see it in person. It really looks amazing. If you think about it, it won't cost more than the Geismann to run. The 400w in this reflector will easily cover your tank so you won't need to run the t5's when it is on, and you'll have to reduce your MH photoperiod (at least at first) because it's much brighter.
I didn't think that i would like the looks of the fixture over the tank. It's kind of big and looks like a space balls helmet :). Once I hung it though, it all made sense ;)

I will tell you one thing...... it's very hard to find these fixtures:frown:

I will have to stop by again to check it out! From the video it looks excellent!

Of course it would be nice to find one of those fixtures, but I won't hold my breath. I think I am definitely going to look into getting a new fixture. Since I am redoing the whole tank and putting in a new one, I might as well redo my equipment as well. :headache:

Space balls ... so true. I see exactly what you are talking about! :)

Love cyano solution.
Tank looks great.
What about running pure actinics in the t5 slots just for dusk/dawn effect?

Thanks. The cyano solution was great. The cyano was really becoming a PITA. As for the lighting, I need more actinic bulbs. Right now I have 2 actinc, 1 blue plus, and one aquablue special. It looks ok but I will definitely change soon.

Eric, if the fixture was black that would be almost exact :)

Zuska, It's easier for me to stick with what I know. I know what to expect from a 400w radium :) With that said, there are some LED changes coming to my system :)

My frag tank, is not really a frag tank at the moment. It is more of a holding tank which has SPS corals that I really like but have no room for in my 60 display. I decided to make the 30 gallon a second display tank! :) I took out the black eggcrate rack and aquascaped. I need more glue to mount corals etc. I'll post pics when It's done.
I also plan on getting a second generation Radion to light this tank. I am getting sick of T5 :) It's time to experiment with something new (to me).

I took my first plunge into LED. I have to experience what all this hype is about :). I have a Radion G2 over my frag/second display tank. I have it set on Natural reef mode at a 40% max for acclimation. I'm loving the controllability but I hate the multi colored disco effect. I plan on putting some of the same SPS in my display and frag tank to compare colors. Since they are plumbed together, lighting will be the only real difference.

Since upgrading display lighting to a 400w radium, growth has exploded. Very happy with the Sfiliogi fixture.
