today i realized something really funy...
i kept on saying to my buddy that my blue hippo looked a bit funny with a white/yellowish belly at which he assured me it was all good...
but after a bit of surfing the web I stumbled across this :

I think it's just a variation of color. I've even seen some that are more black than blue! The Marine Center is notorious for being extremely overpriced.

Hey Mr X ive got a question for you, on the previous page with the picture of dori and nemo in the fuge, you have a whole bunch of white dots, i have them also and was wondering if you know what they are? there like white dots but when you look closely there like little swirls right? well thats what i have or am i mistaken and we dont have the same thing. :?

those are little fan worms. harmless filter feeders.

dori was murdered today

i was doing a water change, and my in-sump skimmer was bobbing up and down a bit while it was off, so i turned it back on when the water change was done, and apparently, my 1 &1/2 inch hippo tang(who is in the sump till he or she grew to size) was hiding underneath it. well, it filled up with water and got heavy....squashed the little critter.
and to think i was trying to protect him. :roll:

a sort-of local fish store had a 30% off sale, so i took advantage and purchased a new skimmer. i ended up buying an ASM G4x, for 305.00 plus tax. i think that was a decent deal. when i got it home and opened the box i realized that i may have under estimated the size of this thing.
it's huge. the skimmate cup looks to be about the size of a bundt cake pan 8O
do you think i have enough skimmer for a 180 gallon total volume now?

there's a picture of the G1X infront of it to show you the size difference.

i also picked up a mandarin, and 2 yellow headed pearly jawfish. one of the jawfish will go to NurseSmartyPants' house. :wink:

well..i got a great deal on another hippo tang, and decided to not QT him and toss him right in the display. i was worried about the clown tang, due to their similar shape, but guess what........the hippo thinks he's a chromis, and so do the other tangs! :lol:
he hangs out with the 4 green chromis and the other tangs don't suspect a thing

meanwhile, the sunlight behind me really made the glass look terrible in these pics. you can see every single scratch and blemish and WOW, i need to scrape that glass! however, you'll get the general idea...

also i was re-glueing my pocilapora for the 30th time(hazards of the crazy algae blenny) and i managed to snap off a little piece.

and the rest is just some random pics....
