Thanks Tom. Saving my pennies for a local frag swap happening next month :D . Also still thinking about those Rainbows in CJDev's planted tank thread...might just have to try converting some to full SG.

I can't believe I have to wait even longer for a tank now that we're unable to move. Still, I can get pleasure from yours instead. 8)

Those rainbows would sure add an unusual touch to your tank. Pretty unique looking fish for a reef tank. :)

My order of p. cyanodorsalis should be delivered tomorrow, so I'll have more pics/video (I'm not a good enough photographer to catch their displays in still shots) over the next couple of days.

I look forward to it. Am still on the fence about adding them, I worry they will not be used to the coral environs (like my favia produces sweeper tenticles from hades after lights out) and end up being lunched on :(

Well, discretion is the better part of valor, so I decided to go with a 'marine' fish for the tank. I got an ORA tank bred Pseudochromis splendens. Nice fish but trying to get a pic of him is tough, the colors washout in the halides and he is a fast bugger

Cripes, I have given up trying to catch that fish in a good light. I also got a frag of a purple/pink encrusting porites. Really nice in person but once again my utter lack of photography skills mean I can't get the color to show up in pictures. Ah well...

I have to say, I think the Pseudochromis splendens was probably the better option. I wasn't sure about the Rainbows, for the reasons you mentioned.

You get a fairly good idea of the porites' color in the second pic. Camera flashes always make tank picts look awful.

Well, I went to a local frag swap and got lots of goodies. Who makes up these "LE" names anyway  . I buy the stuff because I like how it looks.

I picked up:
Tubs Blue zoas, green "dragon eye" zoas, a neat blue w/yellow eye zoas
orang/pink digi
huge frag of green monti w. purple edge
purple/pink chalice
"rainbow" monti
"JennDubs" pink lemonade chalice

I just stuck them temporarily, I'm sure I'll move things around before I'm happy. A few lousy pics for now.

Starting to look very well stocked. That's all going to look lovely when it's grown in. 8)

Well of course! That's half the fun.

I've started planning my next tank. I won't get to start it for a couple of years, but you've got to fill those fallow times with planning, if you know what I mean...

Rather bedazzled by the profusion of new options on equipment and everything else since I last had a tank. 8O

I hope you won't have to wait that long Tom, come back...the Dark Side is calling ;)

What has amazed me is the proliferation of the marketing genious of "Limited Edition" corals, i.e. a normal coral that someone has hung a fancy name on to boost demand. PFFFT... I don't care if a coral has 'lineage', only that I like the way it looks and can sustain it.

Sounds only logical to me. LE probably just stands for Leveraging Expenditure. Though some of the corals out there are really good - much better than the stuff we get here...

Unfortunately the dark side must wait until we're overseas again. We probably have enough space for a nano, but not for all the water changing buckets/kit etc. Plus, this way, I'm building sympathy from my wife for how long I've managed without one, which will strengthen my case for a good sized tank when we're next overseas (I'm going to aim for 36x24wx18h).

You're probably right. In the meantime, I'll get some vicarious kicks from your tank! :D
