Hydor International Trade Complaint Hydor has filed against Jeabo in relation to the theft of patented technology. The company also stated in a press release “HYDOR considers its aquarium fitting technology and its related patents to be very valuable, and it will remain resolute and active in vigorously enforcing its patents in this area.” Hydor – “I’m glad to inform you that the press release of the ITC complaint (US International Trade Commission) is now online on www.hydor.com website and in the Hydor Facebook page.” AquaNerd will be following this story as it unfolds. by AquaNerd | Feb 2, 2015 | Science, Technology
Deltec is making a few nice moves here in 2015, adding a trio of new skimmers to their popular SC lineup. And in similar fashion to their October 2014 release of the SC 1660, all three of these new skimmers will feature DC controllable pumps. The new skimmers will be the SC 1351, SC 1456, and the SC 2061, all internal models of course, and their addition brings the total number of Deltec’s DC skimmers up to four. Beyond the new pumps, there’s really not much that has changed. The body looks the same, as does most of the add-ons by AquaNerd | Jan 8, 2015 | Science, Technology
Eshopps has hit the ground running in 2015. The long-time maker of budget friendly aquarium gear and accessories is launching a new line of refugiums that are aimed squarely at nano aquariums. Aptly called the “CUBE”, this new refugium is perfect for aquariums in the 10-35gallon volume range, and despite the fact that it is being marketed as a refugium, it is actually more of a full-blown mini-sump. The CUBE features three sections, one for a micron bag filter, a protein skimmer section, and finally, a place to grow a little macroalgae…completing the trifecta. The CUBE is powered by some new technology for Eshopps, the patent pending Eshopps Channel Design (ECD) by AquaNerd | Jan 6, 2015 | Corals, Fish, Invertebrates, MACNA, Science, Tanks, Technology

Being that it is Friday and Christmas is so so close, we decided to relax a bit and enjoy the view. So, we are going to make today all about some awesome corals we recently spotted on the web. First up is the Rainbow Incinerator paly from Love The Reef. This awesome polyp symbolizes all that is awesome with these corals, sporting intense colors that would make any hobbyist stop and drool for a moment or two. They sport long skirts that have a striped pattern, along with a vibrant swathe of colors on its oral disc.
