I started packing up livestock at 2A.M. in The Bay area. I was on the road headed for Seattle at 6:30 A.M. (14hr. Drive). In Seattle I had the 120 and a 50 gallon warm and ready to stock upon arrival. By midnight, everything was in its new permanent and temporary home.

Wow, awesome job and congrats on the move and gorgeous new tank. Now get some sleep!!!

Trido, did you get your noisy-pump problem solved?

Thought I'd give an update on the Mag pumps.

I ended up not using the mag 24. It is just too noisey. I changed the intake pipe to 1.25" and it surely helped the cavitation but the vibration and overall humm of the motor is just too much to deal with upon entering the room. I am using a mag 18 and even with a 1.25" intake reduced to the .75" on the pump, it still cavitates unless I restrict the outflow pipe. I definatley do not recommend Mag pumps for external use. I am more than satisfied with the Mag 18 I am using submerged for the return/refugium.

I thought I'd post one last time in this thread as I think the initial tank build is now complete. Since my arrival in seattle I have had inadequate flow . Only about an 18x turnover. I put a Seio 620 in for an extra 600GPh but it wasnt enough. I finally broke down an chose to pull the mag 18 out of the sump and replace it with a mag 12. I still have the M12 choked back alittle bit to prevent micro bubbles in the display. To save alittle $ I didnt use loc line jets on my second closed loop. I simply used 3/4" PVC elbows not glued in so I can adjust the direction of flow. I now have 16 adjustable nozzles up topside and two lower spraybars in the tank. I'm also up to about 28x turnover with an estimated 3600GPH flow rate in the display. I also have about 40 colonies in the tank(mostly frags) most are SPS. Here are some more pics

ONe last thing. I would never recommend to any one to use a mag 18 or 24 as an external pump on a CL. They cavitate no matter how much you choke them back. They are just noisy. Fortunately for me my tank room is well insulated for just for that reason.

Awe, C'mon LawMan, Dont' play the "you only work free for your favorites" card. Seriously though. I was desperated to see an actual reef tank set up in person and Righty was willing to allow some freak stranger willing to work for free into his home. If it wasnt for the people on the board i wouldn't have a reef tank now... I thank you all. If you didnt notice. I do have PFO DE MH and VHO lighting. :D

I love em. Of course im already wondering if I should have bought 400W. I think Im sitting right where I need though. I already have excellent growth and I need to keep a few softies around to make the wife happy for the time being. The 90G is still in the garage waiting to be filled. Or maybe just the 50G. Hmm.... :?

Done in a sense. I have to come to believe (my short time in SW), that a reef tank is never truely done. Im always tweaking something or remounting a frag somewhere else. Or even better, mounting a new addition. The pic titled 1010101 is the best and latest full tank shot I have until i borrow my brothers worthy camera. Its at the top of this page.

I saw those! It is looking great. I want to see pictures of the whole setup though. Inside and out! Since I'm allowed to be demanding like that, right?

And while you're at it, when you get your camera back obviously, post some more tank shots!

I wish I was done in a sence. It looks really nice.
Mark, for the life of me I can't find your tank thread right now. I know you've got the tank, but how's the rest of the build going for you?
