Thought Id post a few crummy update pics. My CL has gone from one mag 18, to two, now I have a sequence barracuda. I have also removed my 192w 50/50 PC and installed a third 48" VHO actinic.

I was surprized at how much growth I've had in five months. Maybe not the best but i like it blue.

The CL...

Thanks Louey.

Does anyone notice the large pile of sand on the glass? That is from my pair of psychotic maroon engineer clownfish. Its a new species. They havent stopped excavating sand for the anenome for three months. Ive given up on putting it back. They've won. Ill just siphon the pile out over time. :D

oh yeah! Screw those mags.

I had a clients tank that I was working on that had two mag 36 running the sump. What a joke. The pump sounds like a lawn mower. WAAAAANNNNN!!!! It heated up the water soo much that it was impossible to keep stuff alive in the tank.

He had two on a 270 tank. Made the water 88 F. Thats the only pumps he had on the tank. No powerheads or anything else to heat the water up.

Mags above 18 are a real joke.

I did a quick search through the thread but didn't find it (it's late and I'm lazy :D ) but what pump are you using for your return? Are you returning straight from your fuge? And if not, how's that all plumbed out? (I know you feed your fuge through the mag (5?) in the sump...)

Bleedingthought, right now, in the sump, I believe I have a mag 12. Maybe a 9 but I doubt it. I had a mag 18 in the sump but had micro bubble issues and decidedto slow things down. Now that my skimmer is truely broke in and I have modified my sump I may try the 18 again.

The Pipe from the barracuda is a 2". Id like to think that Im pushing about 4000GPH through my CL system. That and the return gives me about 40x turnover without penductors.

Cool. So, you're draining into the sump, going throught the skimmer, pumping water into the fuge, draining it back into the sump, and pumping it back to the tank?

Yes, the return pump has a "T" on it and almost half of the water from it is recirculated through the fuge right back into the sump. If I could do it over again, I would build a custom 70 Gallon sump/fuge. My wife would kill me if I do It right now. Its not that important to me anyway

Whoa, really, how much does the electricity cost you to run a tank and lights etc of this size?

About $50 a month. Its worth it to me

I am already dreaming up my next 300+ gallon builtin in my next house. I refuse to share my tank room with the washer and dryer next time around.
