How can ANYONE debate any detail of this matter when you KNOW that a great many phone conversations, emails, and postal letters are not included. It is impossible to do so.
Motivation: Why would anyone with a lick of sense, gather bits and pieces of a so called story, and publish it online in such a state if not for having a reason(s) to do so. Had the full and entire story with its documentation been put forth, then all would be well and easily debated or discussed with no concern of what is behind an apparent "smear" campaign.
I know for a fact that Eric is clean and clear of any wrong doing what so ever, if you chose to not believe me, not much I can do about that and will have to leave those who wish to, debating hints, gossip and conjecture. I have explained what I can allow myself to and thats it.
Seriously though, motivation is a factor here no matter how you want to slice and dice it. Could I have done a better job, probably, but thats what happens when one gets fired up. I wish I could speak my peace in full and without regret. Yet it is out of respect for someone else other than Sarah that I do not. Take it anyway you want to. If one can not see a possible motivation by the simple method (lack of) it was presented to "us" as, then my argueing or pointing out that fact would be lost anyways.
I will leave you all with two words --- Marriage License (now theres a true mystery to be solved), have fun!

Okay, since Steven said it first...lol I have seen the missing documents, letters and emails, and is the reason I am dismayed that a debate could be considered possible. Again.... its just not. Sorry. and it is not mine, nor Stevens place to make such things public. We are defending a friend whom we know to be innocent of what he is being accused of, and quite frankly, he is hurt quite deeply by the whole thing, Hence my anger.

Of course there's a reason silly. There's lots of reasons for someone to do this.
My reason is it's going to make it harder for real legitimate researchers to get permits, it's a huge black eye for the pet industry and the hobby, it's going to cost me as a tax payer more because their will be more enforcement, these corals are as much your property as Eric's, Eric did not go to some pet shop and buy them he was given a permit to maintain them but not own them, we pay for all of this, it's our tax money for our natural resource.
