I understand that it may be neccessary for you to choose your wording for any answer quite carefully; be assured I have no intention of picking it apart no matter how circuitously it may be phrased. A simple yes or no will do, and I will not press for further details from you.

Believe me, I would wish nothing more than to expose everything, including the so called "gossip" or "rumors" that would shed light. I may just do so out of a sense of justice, surely one can obtain a copy of a document request made by someone in Palau, being that its not that far away, I will have to look into it. The person that told you that has a lot more of the iceberg to send as a follow up and there are a lot more people that know about this and are mad about it too. Once that ball starts rolling, they will come forward with what they have.

I can say that I have read the certifed letter that Eric Borneman sent to Billy Causey. That it does not paint certain individuals involved in this situation in a positive light. Beyond what actions the authorities took, I don't know, except to say Eric Borneman has not to this date been charged or prosecuted for anything and continues to work with NOAA.

in the end, are they not responsible for their death/mis-mgmt/contamination?
sounds like that certified letter attempts to shift the blame in some way?
even if it was not eric's fault for the mishap, in the end he is responsible.
since this was a public project, announced on the internet, should not
internet citizens know what happened in the end?
should not the folks in charge of such projects be as transparent as
possible?
now it seems other people know the full story but they also won't
explain. they do not wish to break up relationships happening now?
i am truly a rookie to these boards and marine tanks in general, but boy!

I see alot of accusation, alot of speculation and alot of interpetation of incomplete materials and cannot understand that if what we are being led to believe is true why the accusation hasnt been taken to the proper authorities. Just trying to understand the point of such a public accusation without any followup to the proper channels? And since no one seems to be able to clarify I have to believe that there is no authoritative investigation and wonder why if there is this supposed strong evidence to support the accusation.
Eric never really did anything illegal that he could get prosecuted for. He may have botched a project and could have taken some corals larger than his permit stated but those are really minor infractions and not worth the time nor the effort to prosecute, if they could be. It is more an ethical debate about his actions when these infractions were discovered and what he did or did not do. I think it must also be noted that Eric, as of March of this year, was still doing research on coral diseaes at the same location and this is on the NOAA website. So whatever he did the NOAA seems to be okay with it now. IMO the people trying to defend Eric are doing a pretty poor job of it by attacking others.

someone took a butt load of corals from florida, killed a bunch of them, and screwed up any chance of having them relocated. which would "save the reefs" some one is responsibe, why dont you help us solve this little mystery? who the hell cares if sara and eric had some stupid love affair, or what ever charles keeps hinting about, i dont care, all these documents ive read so far show eric as being responsible for a lot of corals that he neglected and hid. if you can shed the light, you should.
