ok my pH was very low, i think its because too much co2 build up ..

pH: 7.6
NO3: 160ppm
PO3-4: 2ppm
NO2: 1ppm
Ca2 : 520ppm
NH3/NH4: .15ppm
KH : 9 or 161ppm

so i dosed 3 teaspoons of seachems reef buffer, i checked five hours later and my pH was still the same and alkalinity, then i put 10 teaspoons more... ill be testing in a couple hours later ...

btw yesterday i put about a 100 grams of brightwell carbon, can that have an effect on the ph?

ur putting too much into the tank, u have to let it finish doing its thing, after the cycle then worry about dosing when u start getting corals.

yea. and stop dosing cal alk thats whats messing with the PH. (ph and alk go hand in hand. high cal causes low alk usually and this intern messes with PH)

Stop dosing. Your levels are going to be all over the place during your cycle and it's Normal and expected. After your cycle is done, worry about your parameters you still have another 5-6 weeks. Just sit back and do some reading you don't even have to touch the tank other than for top off.

Nice. Instead of the foam use bio-balls just to prevent macroalgea from getting into your sump (be sure to stir-them-up every two week to remove ditrus biuld up.

And like everyone is advising you to stop with the dosing, I say the same. You should only be doing a 15%-25% water change weekly until your amonia, nitrite read out 0.0ppm. It is opptional, but very recommended that you aslo get your phosphate and nitrate as close to zero as possiblibe. Like that, as you would start adding animals you can keep a better eye on those two. This will make it eassier on you to try to control them too.

It does. Never heard of doing that, and wouldn't do it myself. Top-off water is for replacement of evaporated water. You shouldn't be adding alkalinity to it. What you can do once your tank is fully acclimated is do kalkwasser thru your top-off or slow drip method. This will help you keep a higher PH if levels are low.

wow what a thread..pauli don't start talkin bout more dosing..don't you see he's addicted to it lol. Stunner LISTEN you have a gorgeous tank stop F'ing with it if you would like to eventually have something living in it. Just do water changes every few days and don't do ANYTHING else for the next 6 weeks.

End of story.
