Well today the VHO endcaps did make it to my door but!! my dad was asleep and I wasn't home and we missed the delivery. Bad luck I guess, they'll be shipping again tmrw.
I had a question about mounting them though, How far from the water should the VHO bulb be? The MH is about a foot off right now.
Thats my Firefish that my sister named "Paintbrush" cause it looks like someone just painted all over him. I finally was able to take a decent picture of the little guy.
kris you have to mount the end-caps firmly to the hood, they have to be screwed in place so the bulbs have no chance of moving. the best way to do this is to place the bulbs in the end-caps then mark the locations of the end-caps in the hood. take the bulbs out and mount the end-caps, then put the bulbs back in. make sure you test out the wiring first before you mount them. if you have any questions pm me, this has to be done perfectly to be safe.
I understand what your saying. I'll do it just like that. They have to be mounted in place solid. No shaking whatsoever. I'll definately PM you in I have any problems. Don't want to have a fire.(Then the mother would kill me ). I'll be doing it tmrw at around 5 or so. I'll try to post some pics of how it looks?
Pierce, It was nice meeting you and thanks for the reflectors. I'll wait for my dad to get home to wire everything up. I'm pretty sure he'll do a better job than me. I'll post some pictures when I get everything in place.
Just got the VHO in there and the new reflector from Pierce. That made a big difference in the amount of light in the tank. The VHO made the tank a whole lot bluer. Heres the pic.
Looks good, how about a shot of the canopy with all the high power consuming bulbs? glad the lights are working out and you didn't get anyone electrocuted.
Keep a close eye on your little sticks in the next few days to make sure they are not getting light shock..
I almost forgot I was adding more intensity. Thanks for the heads up on that. I'm glad no one got electrocuted too. My momma would killed me after I got electrocuted.
Now the entire tank looks like its covered equally with light. No dull spots.
