i wouldnt put anything there, the LR would just collect detritus. i run my sump bare.
The check valve you have is in a good spot, the problem is its not VERTICAL!!!!! Check valves will not work when they are not straight up and down. Understand??
Also its prob not a good idea to have your return pump slammed against the wall. There is a fan there which cools the motor and needs to breathe.
What does your lighting cosist of (full details on what type of fixtures, watts, bulb type your using including T-5's, metahelides, ect..)

Are they mongule or double ended ?I have 3-400watt sunlight supply fixtures w ice cap ballasts and ushio 14k bulbs

yes 2 per pendant... kind of just for show.. i really don't think they do much to the actual corals do they? plus they have a thick plastic sheath! ill post pix in a bit...Is it just 2 T5 bulbs per pendant?... I cant really tell in the pictures.
