thanks Kedd,

it's about 9 months old, most of the frags are around 6-7 months old.
just about everything was grown from frags. being the first sps reef tank I've kept there has been a learning curve, and I expect things to grow faster now that I know a bit more.

they have split, there are about six or more of them on that rock.

as long as they stay on that rock I'll keep them.

John,
The learning curve is the best part, without that it would be no fun.

Your tank looks like it is taking the corners well.

Kedd

:) a few key upgrades and it will be rocking, skimmer, O3, 2 part doser, to start with.

shooting my tank? or other tanks?

peter, this is a linkia, a multiflora linkia. from what I've read it is the linkia with the highest rate of survival in captivity. the often seen blue linkia does not do well in the home reef. to find one that will live you might have go through many different ones, this will represent hundreds that did not make it through collection and shipping just to get you that one blue linkia for your tank. the multiflora reportedly does not suffer the same fate, which is why I ordered it.

Jonathan,
Thanks for the information. I didn't know it was a kind of linkia. This information would be great in a FAQ on invertebrates. :) I always wanted to keep a blue linkia but never tried due to their poor survival rate. Thanks again , maybe I'll try the multiflora.

Peter

I just combined a bunch of old threads into my tank thread, it messed up the view count, oh well, nbd.

I also made an index of threads I liked in the first post of this thread, good for reference.

Hey Jon,

I didn't read the entire thread but all that surface movement doesn't help getting proteins into the overflow. It just helps to mix them back in.

I read your going to be doing a skimmer but without the wet neck. The wet necks are really nice and really help with skimming production. Here is a good diy link for a wet neck skimmer.

Also, I see your still going to do the cooling tower. Thats really cool. I haven't had a chance to look at stuff but would like to see what your thinking.

Lastly, I think you should look at whats heating up your tank. I don't think the streams are adding much but those mj's and other pumps might be.

fish update

well some sad news, the last of my three ananthias jumped out of the tank :( I tried to prevent this by using eggcrate.

Steve/stingnyc is dropping off the blue throat trigger today, I'll try to get some pics of him if he's not to shy.

I'm sorry guys :( Steve just drove up and dropped off the trigger, he did not get parking. I'll be home tomorrow if you all want to stop by. lmk.

I might be putting the big rock Aaron made for me into the tank then and gluing frags to it. Yea!! that will be a fun day:D
